Hello,
Norton Security found a virus in the SOWG exe file and deleted the desk top icon and exe file.
How do I re download that file so I can access the game?
Thanks in advance
MJL

Has Norton quarantined the file somewhere? If so it may be possible to recover it.
If its a Steam copy, just uninstall and redownload. You may even be able to re-verify local files in which case Steam could replace the missing exe. If its a Matrix copy, you'll have an existing account at their store, ask for help there. There is a re-download feature (I've used it several times) but it'll be the entire game, not just the executable file.
Also, don't use Norton. Both useless and it does damage like this.

Are you using Windows 10? If so right click the executable and run as administrator and run in Win 95 compatibility mode (or it may be Win XP compatibility mode).

Norton did it to me too....again...Last time I just reloaded the SoW 1.61 Update and was off and running again. This time I had to go in to Norton Quarantine and give permission to load it??
For what it's worth, Norton labeled the file as Heur.AdvML.B......whatever that means??

I've said this before and no doubt I'll say it again, don't use Norton. It is well known as being ineffective against a lot of malware plus it throws up these annoying, and occasionally downright damaging, false positives.

Thanks for the responses
I e mailed Symantec with the SOWG.exe file in question. They actually got back to me and stated it actually is not a threat (which we know). If you decide to still use Norton (even with the feedback in this chain), download the updates and then un quarantine the file - Norton with the latest update should view it as a non threat file.
