If you see this, please take a look at my question in the Technical Help and Bug Post folder.

Many thanks if you can help!

Hey, how is everything going.

I tried reinstalling on Windows 10, but the game didn’t work.
A Black - Screen - for a few seconds , and then nothing.

Sorry I couldn’t be of any assistance.

cliometrician - Update :

I got the game to load by checking the errors in the Work Folder - a file called "SowGB.log" file shows the errors.

To Activate the Mods :

Start the Game - Click the Modifications button
Double Click the Mods that you want activated
A yellow block will appear in-front of the Mod once activated
Use the arrow keys to move the Mods to the top of the screen and arrange the loading order

Click the "Check Mark" at the bottom of the Screen to accept the changes

That's about as far as I have gotten, currently getting another uniform error.

I have really forgotten most of this !

Good Luck :

Hi Davinvi, thank you for answering.
The problem I have is that the mods are not appearing at all---they don't show up in a list for me to select. All the mods and maps were copied and placed in my Scourge of War folder, in the proper folders---Work, Mods, etc. \
But when the game starts, nothing is there but the original Gettysburg OOBs and a handful of GB maps.

I opened the Sowgb.log and here is all I got:

Game Launched
01:06:07 Version:SOWGB
1.6100
01:06:09 Loading Defined Lists
01:06:09 Initializing
01:06:09 Ansi:16, TexH:16384, TexW:16384
01:06:09 SowGB Loaded
01:06:09 01:06:09

But I really do appreciate your help.

cliometrician - I will try to trouble - shoot the problem this weekend.

I'm starting to think that this is more of a "Windows 10 Operating System Problems", which is game wasn't designed around.

Isn't the Game 32 bit ?

Both my old computer and this new one are Windows 10, 64 bit, and I played Gettysburg on my old computer for several years with no problem.

I just can't get any of my mods to show up on a list for me to select. They are all in the proper folders inside my Matrix Games/Scourge of War/ folder, but they don't show up when the game has started. I can't imagine what the problem is.

If you have any suggestions I will follow them!

Hey, cliometrician

I Installed mine from the "SoW-Gettyburg- UpdateComp - v161.exe " file that was downloaded a decade ago.

So, My game is "Not" showing a "Matrix Games/Scourge of War" folder.

I wonder if that makes any difference.

Where is our "Trusted" old friend "Reb" - he has remained active on the Forums for years, even when everyone else moved on !

BTW - The game ran fine under Windows 7 64 bit for years, but for some unknown reason I still can't get it to launch under Windows 10 after reinstalling it a few days ago.

Hey D, from the literally, old friend,

Good to hear from you, it's now been a really long time since you visited last. I'm guessing you still live in Nashville, hope life is treating you well there. Brace yourself for the heatwave coming your way from Arkansas, it's a killer.

Regarding your issue with installing, I suggest you download a new copy from Matrix and install again. I'm on my second computer using WIN 10 and never experienced any install issues with GB or WL. WIN 10 appears to handle both games fine.

Thank you, Reb!

Very quick question. When I download it again from Matrix, what should be the name of the folder? Matrix? My old folder was NorbSoftDev

Does the name of the folder make a difference? I've been working on this all day and I still can't get any of my mods to show up when the game is running. All I have are the original Gettysburg scenarios and maps, and that's all.

The sound you hear is me beating my head against a wall.

Great to hear from you.

RebBugler - how is everything going, I hope that You and Family are doing well.

Agree, The States of Tennessee and Arkansas are under that heat dome, so its going to be a hot summer.

Thanks, for the tip on installing from the Matrix - Site, I'll probably just wait until the newer version of the game comes out, and start from there.

Lately , I have mainly been playing a UBoat game, that uses the "Unity Engine" , a program called "DNSpy" off the internet allows the user to edit the files of any Unity game.

Hopefully, Norbs new game will also use the Unity Engine, that should allow for larger maps.

But, its good to hear from you "Reb" !
