Matt,

Can you discuss a bit the in-game visual/graphic settings you had selected such as tree drawing distance, etc.

I know it's been previously stated that terrain elevations are derived from USGS (I believe) data. However, the Round Tops seem very high compared to real life. Is this a result of map distance compression or am I off base on this observation?

By the way...good clear report. You'll get those corporal stripes in 5 or 6 years.

Hi AJ,

To answer your first question, the tree drawing distance was set to 200, overall drawing distance 900. So in general, I had medium-high graphic settings.

To answer your second question, it probably is a result of the map distance compression. Like you mentioned, all elevations are proportionate to actual USGS data, but the distance compression will make some distances/heights look a little close/higher than they actually are.

I can't tell by the pictures, are there individual sprites for officers or is there one generic sprite for them all?

Norb would probably be more suited to answer, but Lee is the only officer currently modeled. The rest use generic CSA/Union sprites. There has been talk of modeling all officers, but I'm not sure what the latest is on that.

Well it sure looks like the game is coming along well I on the other hand was enjoying the fact that I have been able to run a mile for the first time since I had my accident with my leg hitting a rock really hard when I was god I don't remember. So I was out swimming and running but I can't do anything like reenacting or backpacking january of 2010. But anyways this looks great this game has been on my mind forever and we only have a half a year to go.

I think you really need to decrease the width of Plum Run. If it was similar at the time of the battle to what it is today you can jump across it in most places. Use this link to go to Gettysburg, PA and use the bird's eye view of the Trostle Farm area. Plum Run is a bit wide just around where it crosses Trostle Lane but it quickly narrows to not much more than a brook. I think this is pretty much true as it flows south to the foot of LRT and north to the area of Picketts charge. The width shown in the screenshots would probably be more appropriate for Rock Creek.

You might want to change the fence that runs south from the Trostle farm along the western edge of Trostle Woods and down to the Wheatfield Road from worm type to stone or Virginia rider. Although the Warren map shows rail fence, the symbol on the Warren map could represent a rider style. This is the stone wall that at least one of Bigelow's 9th Mass guns was dragged over. Whether at the time of the battle the stone wall ran all the way to Wheatfield road, I'm not sure, but today I believe it is stone or rider.

Nice job on the Trostle barn and house.
