Battlefield compression

Not quite sure how to word this question...referring back to MMG, their second game I believe had the battlefield less compressed than the first game. I'm not sure if this relates to how terrain height is measured to true terrain distance or whatever parameters are used to render battlefield distances to terrain heights to size of objects such as buildings, people, etc. Can you comment on the overall scale of the battlefield in this context for NSD's upcoming game?

CWBR had one highly compressed map to allow some grand tactical 'what if' scenarios. TC2M was to scale.
The new game maps will also be to as close to historical accuracy as possible. I have been checking game maps versus both historical and current maps and the errors are within the limits of my ability to place markers on corresponding positions on the different maps.

Glad to hear terrain accuracy is high on your list. It will be interesting to compare wartime or post war photos of the field to views from the same spot in the game. This was done for TC2M and it was amazing how close some of the comparisons were.

I was also amazed and obsessed with how close the maps - especially the Cedar Mtn map - was to the live terrain; as the person responsible with 'getting it right' you can be assured i've gathered all the resources available (including scheduling a trip to visit this first battle's locale) in an effort to make this map as accurate as i can. Luckily, some great photos exist that were taken right after the event so it's very easy for me to make those side-by-side comparisons.
