Gettysburg Tour
Gettysburg Tour
We just got finished with our demo here at the Day's Inn Gettysburg. Everything went better than expected. I didn't expect much, usually when you have these things nothing works. But we had 2/3/4 person multiplayer going and everyone had a great time. It was a lot of fun to watch new people try out the game. We get so close and in depth that's it gets hard to step back and realize that this is supposed to be fun. But tonight was fun. The maps looked awesome, even right after coming off of the actual battlefields. People played the single player game and the mp game. We only had one mp scenario going and it ran well. It was so cool to see how people would play. Everyone really like the changes we've made and even picked up the interface very quickly. This thing is really going to rock once it's out there. I know that players have been waiting for mp for a while now and based on the feedback tonight, I don't think we'll disappoint. I'll right more when I get back home, but I just wanted to give a quick update. Thank you everyone for coming.

Norb, Thanks to you and the rest of the team for letting me test the game out. MP was awesome, even though I had my butt handed to me. For those of you who haven't tried it yet, you'll be blown away!
Re:Gettysburg Tour
Thank you for having us!
Like he said, it was an awesome day and being able to play the game was a joy in and of itself. We had some exciting battles once we got used to the new features (only took a few minutes to figure it out) and I'm sure it's on a precursor of what is to come with the finished product.
But what impressed me most was, surprisingly, not the game or the tour of the battlefield but it was getting to meet the team members who were there. You guys are great; you took the time, effort, and money to put this thing together and I'm just glad we could be a part. It's hard to appreciate how much work really goes into a game like this, and the fact that you guys can make such a polished and enjoyable product speaks volumes on how dedicated you are. Obviously you all enjoy doing this, and it would be a shame for you to ever have to stop for a reason any other than your own.
Not only will I be buying the game because it will be a blast to play, but I'll have the added moral satisfaction of supporting all the hard work that went into it for us fans to play.
So on behalf of the community, we all say THANKS!
Oh, and the hats are wonderful as well!

Outstanding news, i'm both relieved and excited that everything went well. I really wished i could have been there this year but i know the Art Dept. was well-represented. Perhaps next year, if we do this again, it will gather more momentum and get more folks out there.

That's great news. I wish I could have been there. I hope some of the people who played will give us their impressions of the game.
Also, if there was anyone there who has never been to Gettysburg before, I'd like to hear their thoughts on the battlefied. It's always interesting to hear the impressions of a first time visitor. The only drawback to being a first time visitor is you can't get that sense of "before and after" regarding all the rehabilition the field has undergone the last several years.
We're all anxious to get the full report of the day and also the full status report of the game development that the team mentioned would be forthcoming. Hopefully there will be pictures posted of the various activities that occurred.

A fine time (and a few beers) were had by all (that were of legal age).
Once all was set four players were hooked and busy destroying each other.
Good fun. Amy (Jim's daughter and tester) and I took turns "letting" the game beat us on Marks Big Rig and panoramic monitor. I kept admiring all the pretty scenery and explosions while Mark kept saying downer things like "you just lost Little Round Top, you know".
While I was admiring all the game speed enhancements I'd hear an exasperated "and there goes the Peach Orchard".
Or "Watch out for the brigade thats breaking in the Wheatfield!" while I was trying to pay attention to the nice infantry smoke.
Great fun and a great bunch of people.

I have a feeling I'm going to have the same problem paying so much attention to the new improved graphics and the brand new battlefield that it'll be awhile before I can get down to the task at hand of pushing those wascally webels back to Virginia. It's a distraction I'm eagerly anticipating.A fine time (and a few beers) were had by all (that were of legal age).

Re:Gettysburg Tour
I had a blast as well. It was great to finally meet everyone, and the best part was seeing everyone playing the game for the first time and really enjoying it. When everyone fired it up, I heard a lot of "wow!"s, and "this is awesome". MP was also a lot of fun of course.. Even when everyone teamed up against me and I got my butt kicked.
The tour of the field was also great thanks to Chris (our guide for "The Pender" Tour", which was excellent by the way) and Mark. I was impressed by Marks knowledge of the battle and we are fortunate to have him designing the scenario's.
Hope we get to do this again next year.
