Keep Up the Good Work!

Post by Odox »

Gentlemen:

Have had a chance to finally see the site and the work in progress. It's the Bleeding Edge.

I'll say what I've said in numerous places over the years, to a largely unenlightened audience: if you take your time to do this right, to create a work of art, to make something of quality that establishes a legacy that will stand the test of time, I won't care if you charge me several hundred dollars for the finished product. I'll take several copies just for luck.

It looks good, boys. Have the pride, have the integrity to really make something here. Push the limits. I'm tired of the crap being peddled out there now. Show them how it's done.

I recognize many of your names from other places. Glad to see you're contributing your time and talent to this work.

Steady on!

Thank you Odox,

Not sure if you're familiar with the team or our games, but Jim and I have made 2 games together so far and both times we made sure that the final product was worthy of pride. We plan to continue that concept, and only release games when we are positive they are as bug free as we can get them and fun to play. I take a lot of pride in my work, so you can be sure that this first NSD game will be up to the high standards I have used in the past.

Again, my very Warmest Greetings, Gentlemen:

The last several months have been a very demanding time for me in my personal and professional life, but convinced that Scourge of War - Gettysburg will one day be a simulation by which others of the genre will be measured, I have done my level best to at least keep up with the posts in the Forum to monitor the game’s progress.

I am genuinely impressed by what I see. I am also especially cheered by what I see in the quality, dedication and esprit-de-corps in the design team; and am quite frankly relieved you are so appreciative towards your co-workers Norb and that they are doing their very best to free you up to use your considerable talents with coding the game.

I am also very pleased that my earlier encouragements, that you ‘take all the time you need to create a work of superb quality‘, has, as of late, been increasingly echoed by more and more members of the Forum. I have followed quite a number of historical simulations over the years, and to the game’s and the community’s benefit, I see a good number of very talented and dedicated people participating in the Forum and on the design team. At least for me, your reputations precede you, gentlemen; and your contributions to the final product, as revealed by your numerous posts in the Forum, are far beyond sufficient for me to conclude that many of you are a very elite group of contributors. I have every confidence that the level of dedication, expertise, professionalism and creativity you have thus far displayed will make SOW-G an outstanding work of art, a hobbyist’s dream.

I believe there is an invisible line which separates the merely good simulation from the truly great; a point that is passed that genuinely begins to do justice to the period, to the actual participants in this harrowing and titanic event; and it is something intangible yet ennobling. I am beginning to sense that this undertaking is beginning to cross that line. In my experience, this will be a first.

It has also been a first for me to have had the opportunity to follow a game’s development from the very beginning. The insights I’ve gained, and continue to gain, have and are invaluable, and my respect for everyone involved has increased considerably. Allow me to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you.

All the very best to each and every member of the Forum and the design team, and to your friends, families and supporters.

Sincerely,

Odox

Howdy Generals,
I didn't see the need to start a new post to say the same thing as the above post. I second it completely. I am wondering if there will be a pre-order or someway to notify me/us when the game gets released. This is a very busy time of year for me(and others I assume) and I hate to miss out if the game is released before or around the beginning of next year.

Thanks for TC 1&2

Hopefully we'll make the news in different places when we release. There is no type of notification that we are supporting. We are just getting to the point where we are getting things in place for the sale. But checking this site is the only way to stay fully up to date. If you check back late December I'm sure you will know exactly when all will be released.
