I will be very happy to download from Norbs website, I suppose we could use paypal or something like it, Not sure about Steam, they have had a lot of bad press, I downloaded Empire total war, nothing but problems with it.

Yeah, but isn't that issues with the Game generally being poor rather than STEAM? :laugh:

Appart from locking the game to one user, I've found no issues using STEAM for Empire:TW...the game itself on the other hand...Looks over content all the way..

You took the words right out of my mouth. It's not Steams fault that ETW is a crappy game.. :laugh:

I agree but 99% of the time I run with it "off line", you can switch it off you know...I switch it back on say perhaps twice a week to see if there are any software updates but that's it. Not a major fan of STEAM but mainly as it locks the software code to the STEAM account, meaning if you want to sell the game on...well, you can't unless you pass the person who buys it your entire STEAM account!

Anyway, (back on topic) direct sales from this website will be acceptable for this game…payment via PayPal etc etc…and purchase either as a download (I purchase download software from the US quite regularly as its cheaper) or hardcopy in the post.

These days, if you can host a website, you can sell your wares. The “cost” comes from marketing outside that hosted website to bring customers to you.

Thankfully, there are ways to get round this (word of “mouth”, members here for example link the game site on other forum sign-ins for example) but ultimately a good chunk goes on marketing these days.

I'm hoping that a free demo will do most of our marketing for us (crosses fingers). What ever happens we will remain in control so that we can adapt to the situation if necessary.

I've been following your progres for quite some time, and I am eagerly awaiting the release of this game.

I'd like to make comment on your distribution. I'm a dual-national living in Australia and earning Australian dollars. I used to live in Carroll County Maryland.

Almost all my gaming purchases are via download and I like using paypal, because it is only for gaimng purchases. It is an isolated account for me, and I've had no problems with it and had no problems with exchanges to US dollars. I also don't mind using Steam.

With regard to losing the data or needing a CD, AGEOD seems to have a very good system where they remember thier customer. I've emailed them after losing my install and provided some customer data and they sent me another download link. This really made me a very happy customer. I'm very loyal to them now. I'd suggest something similar for your distribution. It seems like a very simple solution. While I could have easily afforded to buy another game, this help getting me a new copy, ensures I'll buy more of thier games.

Just thought you might like to hear from you future overseas customer.

Hopefully the demo will get spread far and wide, because anyone who plays will be hooked. I know that I already have four people who I've personally been talking about the game to (probably to annoying levels!) who will get it so we can all play multiplayer.

How far does getting the game reviewed at places like Gamespot/Gamespy help?
CWGII -> SMG -> SMA -> WNLB -> ANGV -> TC -> TC2M -> SOW

No it doesn't. Well announce when we're ready. We are planning for 1st quarter 2010 now. But we won't release until it's ready.

I think that helps a lot. It gets the word out and lots of new people see the game.
