I am in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. My cousins used to live near Omaha somewhere. I think the place was called Papillion (butterfly in french, which is how I remember it - never having been there).

Commonly known as "Papio", it is adjacent to LaVista, which is adjacent to Ralston which is next door, on the south edge, of Omaha.

What the heck are you doing in Tanzania...must be something great? We could use a little sunshine in exchange for our snow. Wanna trade?

I live in Southern Maine. One of my ancestors was killed at GBurg fighting with the 17th ME, another was a chaplain to a Massachusetts battalion and wrote the regiment's history while another lost an arm because of gangrene.

I have been in Africa for over 20 years now; first in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), then Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana, Malawi, Uganda again and now Tanzania again. My work is housing microfinance for low income households. I also spent a lot of time working with appropriate technology and developing durable roofing and flooring materials that could be produced locally in rural villages. Believe me, I would LOVE to trade some of Dar's heat and humidity for snow!
