Off-Topic: Other Computer Games

Post by Kerflumoxed »

Hopefully, asking a question about other games will not offend anyone nor violate the rules of this board!

Was curious if anyone was aware of, or could recommend, a "GOOD" Viking computer game?

And...what other games are you folks playing, while waiting for GB?

Thanks

TC2M, thats all I need. Oh, and some Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

While we're asking, any suggestions for Napoleonic games? Obviously there is Histwar, and then others like Campaigns of Napoleon, Crown of Glory, etc

Even though the Total War series are not very realistic, I'm still looking forward to Napoleon: Total War.

@IronBMike

Did you try the Napoleonic Total War mod for Rome:Total War?

As for Viking games, MTW - Viking Ivasion any good for you? And i'm sure there must be a viking related mod for Mount&Blade, i know 1066 mod featured them to some extent.

cheers

I like the Total War games because they have a very fun technical campaign with a bit more detailed than other games like Imperial Glory (has so many bugs). Now I will admit that Empire Total War was not very accurate in portraying battles (I have it upgraded now so that it does)but they still are fun.

I can recommend the Viking expansion for Medieval Total War. The first version not MTW2. It is a good fun game. Not playing anything at the moment (haven't really done for nearly 3 years now :P !) I did give Close Combat Normandy a run out a few months back but its never caught the excitment of A Bridge Too Far for me.

I will probably give NTW a try if only to have a look at the graphics...I tried Empire Total War demo but didn't grab me.

Yeah, the ETW demo did nothing for me. The period of warfare for ETW/NTW just doesn't translate into the game system they use, which is still based off ancient/medieval warfare. If they would actually have realistic organization rather than just 20 "units" I would be way more into it. Plus better morale systems, command, etc the list goes on and on. Thank goodness we have TC2M and SoW.

Don't know of any good Viking games, but I've been playing Europa Universalis 3. Once Gburg SoW comes out, I will probably split time between it and Combat Mission: Normandy.
