Game Play interruptions

Post by RebBugler »

One of the few, but absolutely the most annoying aspects of TC2M game play are screen interruptions, stoppage of play. There should be an option to totally eliminate this unnecessary and burdensome feature. I like the order's and courier features, they are a great realistic plus...but don't stop play...flash'em across the screen or something! If I have to click off another dead courier message again, after the umpteenth time, I may get pissed off enough to make my own game...:woohoo:

Any plans to address this issue?

We have no plans for that. I honestly did not know that it was an issue. I will keep an eye out for it during testing. In MP, of course, nothing will stop game play.

I have only played one RTS online (company of heroes) and it would be disasterous if there was a message that came up and stopped the game.

pause.... 105mm fireing for affect..... unpause.....pause....King Tiger spotted.....unpause

Oh, that would be horrible.

Yep, those messages are extremely annoying especially when multiple ones come in rapid succession! I like your idea of displaying them MOMENTARILY perhaps a few seconds at the top or bottom of the screen or anywhere out of the main play area...or maybe even scrolling those messages L>R across the screen.

Hitting the ESC key should kill them right away. The real problem is that you get too many too often. That's the bug that has to be fixed. Realize also that the engine has been rewritten and although it's based off of what I learned before and it acts mostly in the same way. Some bugs may no longer be in the game. Of course there's probably a ton of new bugs.

Great, there's hope here. Any way of flashing messages across the screen, or is this engine too far along to include this aspect?

I like the concept of the courier message and I think it's one of the great features. But I have to make sure that they don't happen too often like in the last engine.
