Scenario frustration or how can get to play all scenarios?

Post by oho »

I'm a bit frustrated, that I have to win a certain scenario, in order to play another scenario - although historically the scenarios weren't won, or they are scenarios from the opposite side (we want these guns). This is a little too much - and these scenarios are not easy.
Please tell me, how I can open up all scenarios.

You can't. Sorry.

Choose an easier difficulty level and try again to gain a victory.

Hi,

Yes... I am a huge fan but do think there has been some confusion by the designers as to whether the shipped scenarios are “scenarios...” or a joined up “campaign.....”.

My vote too would have been for players to be able to play any scenario... I can’t see why we should not. By all means produce a campaign.... or grand, historical all-inclusive single scenarios too.

But we need more scenarios outside of Sandbox games.

No doubt when the modding files are published we will be able to produce our own scenarios... ;)

Stunning game...
All the best,
Kip.

I have to agree, why can't scenarios be open from the start? I really can't understand why games come out with things locked. I'm sure this is supposed to make it some kind of challenage, but to be honest if I put down $45 on a game, why can't I play it all if I want to? Why not give the gamer a choice?

They are open, you just have to beat them. :)

Like Adukes said, put it on an easier difficulty if you're really stuck. But if feels much better to advance to a later scenario if you really had to work for it. :)

My point is that I should get the decision on how I want to play the game versus having to unlock things. If putting the game on easy and just going through the motions of beating each scenario to get to the one I want to play is the recommended approach by the developers, seems like having them locked in the first place is pointless.

I just don't see what is wrong with allowing the player to decide which ones they want to play. People that want the locked approach can complete them in order and others that don't can do what they want. This way both parties satisifed. Not everyone has the same amount of gaming time available to go through everything so some people would like to get just play ones they want.

Don't get me wrong, I like the game and this locked issue is just not in this game but others as well. Just has always frustrated me.

I have to agree, especially since you have to win confederate scenarios to play federals, and the reverse.

If I pay my money and I want to immediately jump into Picketts Charge, I should be able to, especially since some of the win requirements seem far too steep on a few scenarios:(

This isn't in there in order to make you guys suffer. It's because they are carry over. That means that you start with the forces that you had left.

But if you really want to get around it, the saved games for carryover are in the work/saved games/cont folder. Just find someone that has finished and get their file from that folder and put it in yours.

dont change it! having carry over scenarios is one of the positive features of the game and makes it different and better than others of its genre.
