He's right. DRM is the future and lets all hope this style of DRM is the norm.

Hi.

Hmmm, actually I am one of those people who still have all the original games starting from 1987 till now. All DRM, but all do not require the internet to install, and play.

I have no idea how old you are DrMike, but it seems that only ones who do not have a problem with requiring the internet to play a game, are those who have grown up with the internet.

I have over 1034 ( I think) titles, all great titles, and non of them require the internet. You are trying to make it sound that the people like myself are the one's who are losing out, when I think it's you who is actually losing in the end.

While your games that are now useless to play because you have lost your internet is piling up in the closet, for me my games are all boxed, all organized in my specially built shelve unit. When I have guests over, they always comment on my collection, and which I still play to this very day because I have the manuals, and CD's, and I use Defend Reloaded to play them (those that require this program).

If your idea of a future where you need permission to play a game is your idea of heaven, all the power to you.

Later!

Hi paladin.

I understand what you are saying, and you are totally correct.

Let's say you made $500,000 dollars from sales for your product, but you made it a mandatory rule to only sell to those who wore your favorite color jacket, didn't you just hurt your own business? Without this rule, you could have made $800,000 dollars.

I know far fetched. You are right, it is my business to buy, or not to buy, and it's the company's business to do what they wish to do. In the end though, isn't it in the company's best interest to make money.

At this moment I am sitting on $50.00 dollars which this company could have in their pockets.

So you multiply that with say 1000 people who won't purchase the product, didn't the company just hurt themselves in the end?

Anyway...I think is on the road in becoming an argument, and it's something I have never intended to have, or even bring to this forum.

Thank you Norb for allowing me to express my opinion(s).

I'm just wondering how many ancient computer one must have to play over 1,000 games dating back to the late 1980's. For goodness sake, I can't even play CWG2 on my Windows 7 rig, let alone games older than any of my four kids . . .

Hi.

I use a program called "Defend-Reloaded". It's a fantastic program for playing older dos games. You can even use this program on Windows 7 with no problems what-so-ever.

Here is the Link: http://dfendreloaded.sourceforge.net/

For games that require Dos 6.22, Win3.1, Win95, or Win98, or Windows XP, I use a Virtual OS program.

It's called "Microsoft Virtual PC", of course you must have the older operating systems to use this.

Outside of that, I have all angles covered so I can enjoy what I fully own.

later!

Thanks again Norb.

I understand your point; I’m just a little bit confused about your debating point.

I absolutely hate airport security, but if I were to argue about it, and insist that they are losing a valuable customer by this overboard treatment, they would just tell me to find another way to my destination.

This is the world that we live in, security means that at some point, somewhere, someone is going to be inconvenienced .

When someone finds a secret way of keeping everybody one hundred percent honest, then someone else can find a way of eliminating security, all security!

BTW - that is quite a collection of games, I have about two dozen but have only played several of them in the past few years. I quit playing most games when TC2M came out.

Hi davinci.

The whole point I was making is that I didn't want my gaming experience to be hindered by having to gain permission first to install a game, or ask permission to transfer a game onto another computer I own in another room.

I just want to install, and play a game which I purchased at a later time without having to wonder if a company's servers are up that day, or someone hasn't ran into a power line pole up the road.

I do own allot of games and, I don't have them all installed, and having the ability to install a game when I'm in the mood to play at that moment is just a great feeling to have.

I just felt trapped by my having to have an internet connection to install, and play a game.

Anyway, enough said.

Again I like to thank the moderators of this forum, and the Norbdev team for producing a game which I know to be a great addition to this genre.

I do wish you you the best, and please keep making games for this genre.

Thank you.

There's only one problem here, the internet connection. Anyone having access to an internet connection, be it on cable or wi-fi has absolutely no problem with the internet protection code selected by NSD.

I am on a laptop but i have a cable connection which I am not using because I bought a router and switched to wi-fi. This is basically the best solution. If you have a PC then you have an ethernet card and if you haven't got a cable connection you can still activate and deactivate even with an old 2400 baud modem.

I have had issues with copy protection from games on DVD, namely ArmA, the so called SECUROM but I never had probs with activation keys. It is your duty to keep your life up to date with the technologies available, mikesla, and if your problem is the internet, how are you going to even download the game, or the patches, and the mods? How are you going to play online if even the activation is a problem to you? Why is the activation a problem to you and to you alone?

I'd be thinking to these questions if I were you and, of course, I hope you can solve the problem because, as you can see from the Demo, you are missing a huge game here.

Hi,

Sadly whatever system you choose there will probably be someone caught out by it. Some honest user who is then ambushed by the system.

But games such as SOWG need protection for sure.

I found the system simple and easy.

All the best,
Kip.

Well, go ahead and download the Demo – this will give you the opportunity to enjoy a little of the game, and you still have the TC2M game to keep you entertained!

If you ever decide to change your mind, I’m sure that Norb would appreciate your business.
