If I beat a scenario on easy, can I play the following one on normal level?

Isn't it possible to have some kind of compromise here in terms of the availability of scenarios? My personal preference is for the carryovers. It is one of the things that makes this game innovative in comparison with others. It also adds a whole different level of challenge where you go back to re-play a scenario in order to try and minimize your casualties (some of the scenarios can be won by doing some pretty destructive things to your forces but then you have next to nothing for the next scenario!).

However, those of us who played TC2M need to remember two things. 1) The vast majority of scenarios in TC2M were not carryover scenarios. You could jump in to that game and play a lot of individual scenarios (Remember, this was what allowed us to have such fun with the challenge tournament that was running for a while: the number of scenarios available for that was extensive). 2) If this game is to be successful, and ensure the production of more games by Norb and the team, it can't cater only to those who are fans of one particular play style. Remember, TC2M, great as it was, was not a huge commercial success. You want to keep your core fans happy, but you also want to attract new players to become your core fans.

Think about someone who is a civil war enthusiast and gamer who hears about this product and purchases it. More than likely what are the first things they are going to want to do? Re-enact Pickett's charge from either side (or both). Stand with Chamberlain atop Little Round Top. Join the First Minnesota at Plum Run. Or whatever favorite moment of the battle they have in their head.

Is there any reason why we can't have both kinds of scenarios? A Pickett's charge that you can jump into, and a Pickett's charge that needs to be unlocked in carryover mode, for example? Is there a technical reason why this isn't possible?

And yes, before anyone points out the obvious, I know that "the modders will get round to it." The modders will undoubtedly do great things that will amaze and astonish us. But I think many of the posters here are making a good point about what the core game should allow them to do when they first purchase it.

You sure can. You can change the difficulty level at any time.

Great news, On my sixth attempt, took the VP, routed all the enemy and still only got 2700 points

I think the scenarios are unfairly designed, I also routed all enemies and still got a major defeat - propably because I was 5 minutes too late. :(

"To the right", with 1100 points is a major defeat, propably because I didn't occupy the VP (in time?).

The majority of people who buy games don't, and won't, bother with mods.

Hi,

Ok... so in the jargon I am familiar with the shipped scenarios are really a campaign.... which is fine. And if I understand correctly the way we build scenarios is to mod the existing games once the modding files are published.... fine again.... :).

All the best,
Kip.
