Multiplay totally broken-Due to Gamey ARTY TACTIS

Well the Mplay is broken big time...arty rushed up to w/in enemy lines..massive Melees by Reb units...this was a great hope(MPLAY) but the game is broken...a Deal breaker for me.

What specifically do you think is broken about it?

Every time that I've played multiplayer, it's been great fun. There are some missing features(OOB editor, etc) but to call it "broken" is a little too harsh IMO.

OK, nothing specific enough there for me to work with at all, as I and many others have had good games. But thanks for trying anyway.

OK HERE YOU GO......
1)arty being run up to with in less tha 100yrds while limbered..not a moral or any damage taken. ARTY used as a blasting tool only at close range(offensive)(look at a hvy battle only thing left on the feild is ARTY)

REB units (larger) melee like it is nothing..no moral checks just charge. had 3 union units rout behind a wall rebs walked up and charged...no fireing just charged


serious game'y tactics......that are real game breakers.

So these are tactics that the people playing with you used? I think I'm understanding your issues now. You don't like that the game is allowing people to use these tactics against you, correct?

Don't worry about it Norb, he's just Venting. I, along with many others, have played many games which have been both fun and historical. Sure, a few bugs or changes wanted, but nothing major and you can't please anyone.

... would echo IronMike here. The Arty CAN be used a bit too close (within 100 yds) in a non-historical way (units don't take appropriate damage) but most of us are not using it in that fashion. Something to look into for the patch... all in all... a brilliant game!

This thread is rather silly. Broken? Not quite.

The two biggest "tweaks" that MP needs is customizable OOBs and free text in the courier messages. Other than that, the biggest problem I have with MP is that I cannot get time to play enough games.

Thanks guys, I get worried when I read a thread like this and it's hard to figure out exactly what is going on. I agree that the game should stay historical, but it cannot prevent gamey tactics IF they are still following the historical rules. It's not perfect and it will get better and I'm very glad that a lot of people are enjoying it. Right now I'm working on bugs that prevent people from playing, but there is a big arty discussion going on and a lot of testing to make sure that the rules are coming out correctly.

Just out of the gate and it's a great game that will just keep getting better.
