Mine says "Let the application decide" rather "use application settings", but yes, that is checked.

Oh just saw that it is the same 9250 card than before only with 256MB.
Then I have bad news for you: The 9250 is a DirectX 8.1 card, but the engine requires a DirectX 9 compatible card.

Re:Playing with 1 Gb RAM
Actually that is good news because now I know what to do. There are other ATI cards that will work w/ my machine. It is easy to check if they will run the newer DirectX versions. Back to Dell then Ebay.
Time to rock and roll! Thanks.

Roger that. Thanks for the info. As an aside, just came off the Dell website - the ad for the ATI 9250 say it supports DirectX 9.0. Interesting.

Well, that was to good to be true. Adukes, unfortunately, all those cards are AGP slot types. I need a PCI interface card. Ah, the search is on.

Ouch. I'm not sure but there should be a PCI version of the GeForce FX 5200.

Re:Playing with 1 Gb RAM
The world is your oyster! Virtually all cards made today are for PCI slots. You will need to determine whether you have a PCI, PCI-e or PCI-e 2.0 slot. By the way, your card is DX9 compatible. It just doesn't take advantage of all DX9 features. You might try downloading a DX9 driver for it and try the game out before buying a new card. Just make sure you have the old driver handy in case something goes wrong.

Re:Playing with 1 Gb RAM
Gentlemen,
Thank you for all your information.
Adukes - Yes there are g-force cards available. I was told long ago to steer clear of them as they didn't do well with the TC series. Would they be ok with SOWGB?
Georgia - You are correct. My comps use the old style PCI slots. Checked the box and the card is as you say, DirectX 9 compatable. Supposedly I have directx 10 installed but will try a different download to see if it makes a difference.
Tallyho!

Re:Playing with 1 Gb RAM
The 9250 is not 100% DirectX 9 compliant, because of the limited V1.4 pixel and vertex shaders. That's probably the reason why the game doesn't work.
BTW, DirectX 10 doesn't support XP.
