Wasn't saying two for 'crash' reasons.. but for convenience reasons...
When you buy a game, you should be able to play it where ever.. that's why I hate Itunes... don't want something telling me I have to go through hoops to play music I bought on another computer.. Amazon all the way...
What's the difference between one or two? As someone else said.. a lot of users are usually laptop and pc... don't mind activation at all.. it's the 'one' that's the killer.. lol cause I am a dope.. and I would end up upstairs.. forgotten to deactivate on gamine machine.. and too lazy/tired to go down cellar.. boot up.. start game deactivate.. etc... it's a principle thing
but respect your right to choose your DRM.. but was lurking the forum, because I read on Matrix that it might be changing.. If not.. then so be it..
F.Y.I... your Demo shows it is a great game!... and TC2M was awesome as well.. Strategy gamers are a smaller niche.. so harder to make profits...
Looking forward to the game but DRM kill it all !!
Re:Looking forward to the game but DRM kill it all !!
You've got a good point. I did look into it, was thinking about just saying you get 3-5 activations, then when they are gone you are going to have to buy more. It just got too crazy to support and the costs for the code were higher. We only have the staff to support one version right now. We hope to get a CD version too at some point in the future. Probably when things settle down and we've fixed the bugs.
Re:Looking forward to the game but DRM kill it all !!
first of all greetings, first time poster here. been debating on getting this game because of the drm.i prefer a hard copy of course, and i dont like things like steam on any of my pcs and have uninstalled it.
however i think a one time download from these developers who have worked so hard on this and tc2m,and have supported their communitys so well is more of a safe bet.
i think im right in saying that you are not required to install 3rd party programmes.nor required to connect to the internet every time you want to play.
given this, and the fact that the developers are activly talking to the purchasers of the game,i will be buying it very soon.so to the original poster,i very much get where your coming from but these people arnt ubisoft,i think you'll be ok to purchase.

1 - no third party programs are installed nor run. We use an SDK that comes in a dll that we use only when you launch the game. It NEVER runs unless the game is running.
2 - We only check the internet when you activate or deactivate. We never check in the background or without your knowledge. All checks are done in response to a user selection. So you absolutely do not have to be connected to play. That was one of our requirements when we looked for a solution that we could accept.

Congratulations to the NorbSoftDev Staff!
Glad to see your release has made it to market! And from what I see, it has been well-received.
Speaking of eventually releasing it on CD, I’ll take three. It is simply not possible for me to download such large files at the present time. I also keep my gaming machine isolated from the Net for various reasons, so downloading an activation key also isn’t possible. I hope when the game is eventually released on CD it’ll come with an activation code somewhere inside.
I’m not at all in a hurry for the CD release, not in the slightest. I think I’ll be enjoying the Forums and the AARs for quite awhile.
All the very best to you and your staff! I hope Scourge of War: Gettysburg will become a must-have, and be the new standard by which all future games are measured.
Sincerely,
Odox

Anyone worried about downloads, dont worry! Norb and the team will always jump through hoops to get any problems sorted out with you!
I have bought the game by download, and I have never had a CTD, also when Norb releases the CD of SOW I will also buy this too!
These Sims Bull Run, TCM2, and now SOW are the sort of games I and many others have always looked for, now we have them! we will all, I am sure support Norb and all the team with this game, which may well lead on to other ones.........? :cheer:
Braxton Bragg (a very happy user )
