Sandbox - types of units
Is it possible for my side to have infantry and artillery in the battle without having to choose Corps level command?
You can get farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.
Re: Sandbox - types of units
I am sure that we have some OOBs in there that have both inf and art in the same division.

Day 2 gettysburg V Corps I division (barnes?) has inf, cav and arty.

Re:Sandbox - types of units
If I could "have my druthers" it would be to allow the player (ME!) to select my side, my force size and composition (something "akin" to a legion" where I could have a brigade or two of infantry, supported by artillery), map, & objectives (if any other than defeating the enemy). Perhaps it is already there in Sandbox....I just haven't discovered it!
After two weeks of play and an occasional CTD (there...I am learning SOME of the terminology), I continue to be impressed with the quality of the game. Norb, et.al. MUST be quite proud of their efforts!
(Latest crash was yesterday with the Stonewall scenario...after about 10 minutes into the game. Restarted the game and used exactly the same settings and all worked well!)
Thanks for a great game!

Finally, you select what type of battle it is(meeting engagement, attack, defend, etc).
Play around some more with the sandbox, I think you'll like it.
It is already in there, Kerflumoxed. I use the sandbox all the time to set up different situations. What you do first is select an OOB from one of the three days of battle. Then you can select whether it will be a brigade vs. brigade, div. vs. div, etc. Then you select which brigades or division you want to control.Perhaps it is already there in Sandbox....I just haven't discovered it!

You're right. I didn't check out all the OOB's. There are several divisions with both infantry and artillery.Day 2 gettysburg V Corps I division (barnes?) has inf, cav and arty.

Yeah, that would be a nice improvement. Maybe in a future feature patch. A "pick and choose" from any of the units in the army. That would fit in nicely with a scenario designer. If I could "have my druthers" it would be to allow the player (ME!) to select my side, my force size and composition (something "akin" to a legion" where I could have a brigade or two of infantry, supported by artillery), map, & objectives (if any other than defeating the enemy).

Yeah I remember we brought this up. To be able to pick and choose exactly what forces you have on both sides, but it's a coding nightmare. Hopefully in a future patch or expansion.Kerflumoxed wrote:Yeah, that would be a nice improvement. Maybe in a future feature patch. A "pick and choose" from any of the units in the army. Re:Sandbox - types of units
I wrote it for Waterloo a while back, but it just keeps getting pushed down for other features.
Re:Sandbox - types of units
I was wondering if we will ever see horse artillery as opposed to standard artillery...
