This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

If you haven't found it yet, just wanted to let you know there is a new Mod scenario available in the User scenario's if you have the NSD Mod enabled in the game.

From the description:
Here's your chance to take control of any commander from both armies that took part in Pickett's Charge.

Mission: Attack/Defend Cemetery Ridge.

Victory Conditions:
5000 = Major Victory
4000 = Minor Victory
3000 = Draw
2000 = Minor Defeat
1000 = Major Defeat

Confederate Forces Available:
Army of Northern Virginia, General Robert E. Lee
First Corps, Lieut. Gen. James Longstreet

Second Division, Brig. Gen. Adolf von Steinwehr
Third Division, Maj. Gen. Carl Schurz
Reserve Artillery, Brig. Gen. Henry J. Hunt
Artillery Brigade, Capt. Dunbar R. Ransom

This scenario was created using the scenario.csv from MP11 and the battlescript from GB16 designed by Mark Tewes. All I did was remove some lines from the battlescript and changed the command level to allow the control of any commander.

Yes, it is.

Have never had any problems since the first patch. Have played two other games with the new patch and no problems.

Oh. I thought you were having a problem with this Pickett's Charge Mod (hence posting in here).

Can you describe the problem with this save?

Gentlemen. I have been trying the new Pickett’s Charge Scenario in Patch 2 and I think it is quite outstanding. Far better than anything in the game proper.

It has enabled me finally to play out a couple of my Gettysburg “what-if”s that I have been wondering about for years.

Firstly I moved Rodes across to his right to bolster-up Picket in the centre of the line. I was getting fed up watching Rodes sitting there doing sweet-nothing during the charge.

The result, a massive hole punched in the Union line wide enough to sail the USS Nimitz through. But, God, those guns. I guess that, even if the whole of the State of Virginia was conscripted, they would all be slaughtered wholesale. I must find a way next time to sneak something around the back.

With that very thought in mind, I then tried a Union ploy in the second game. Moved Ward’s Division rapidly east to the Peach Orchard, formed in line facing north and then hit Cadmus Wilcox and the artillery line firmly in the right flank.

The guns were bemused. They seemed loathe to move away from their original targets up the hill and proved fairly easy meat. You would never imagine the same AI was driving these as the Union guns !

I took great pleasure from surprising Lee, Longstreet and a bevy of other officers in a group and sending them running for their lives.

I guess in real life though there were some more confederate regiments off of the south edge of the map ( were Hood’s people still there ?) who would have put an end to the fun.

Even had time at the end to turn east to rejoin the Union lines, mopping up many confederate regiments on the way across. Surprising that Armistead proved nowhere near so courageous when left to his own devices. He made no attempt whatsoever to approach the objective and bolted back to the start line when Ward approached. End of a legend !

What if Rodes had supported the attack historically? You just might have uncovered the answer... :)

Excellent report Ingles, and I'm glad you are enjoying the scenario. :cheer:
