Can you ask for help from the friendly AI units near you during a scenario and will they come? If so, do you ask the regimental commander, the brigade commander, the division commander or Corp commander?

That's an excellent question and I was just wondering the same thing the other day. Norb? Can you ask for help from the friendly AI units near you during a scenario and will they come? If so, do you ask the regimental commander, the brigade commander, the division commander or Corp commander?

There is code in there to deal with this situation. I know that it came up during testing. I would not count on it being very effective right now, but it is possible that in certain situations it might work.

The problem I find is; I am not sure they are responding to my support requests or just happen to be by coincidence to be in the neighborhood of where I needed support. The courier system does not give affirmation to support requests.
I've asked for support on all levels, to where it is redundant, except to levels without artillery, which I'd only ask for their infantry support, or artillery where they had no infantry and ask for their artillery. Can you ask for help from the friendly AI units near you during a scenario and will they come? Re:Call for support in scenarios
I found myself in a situation (I was Brigade commander Weed) where I had moved to flank Hills right. I had just started to hit his right flank regiment, when I noticed that some of his reserve regiments were moving toward my position. Well, at this time it was only Ayres and Crawford who were doing all of the fighting, as Barns was still setting at his original position. I could not get any help from Ayres or Crawford, as all of their units were busy fighting. I sent an infantry support request for my left flank to Barns, in hopes he would help, and believe it or not, here he comes with his whole division to help me, and with his move, I was able to roll up Hills right flank. This was a first for me, as in the other times, they just set there and don`t move.
Re:Call for support in scenarios
I think I have figured this one out. I have done this many times in MP and in Sandbox:
If I am a Brig commander and asks another AI Brig commander to help/move he does almost every time unless he have not recieved other orders(like defend etc.) from higher commander and of course he must be in the message recieptant list.
The trick is that you have to start the message with "Please execute the following orders", it is a seperate message line under the information section, then you can fill in what you want the AI to do.
If you just send that you need support on your front center I havent managed to get him moving.
Im not sure how it will work if you are a Brig. commander and the commander you ask is a Div. commander but I think it will work. I'll have to test it right away.
Edit: It did work. I was Brig. commander Meredith and asked my own Div. commander Wadsworth to move etc...and he did(I also recieved move orders on where I wanted our division to move)...It also seems that if I tell him to move after he has recieved orders from our Corps commander (Maj Gen Doubleday) he is doing what I tell him directly ignoring the previous orders from Doubleday which is wrong(I think the AI needs to be implemented with priority on orders depending on from which commander the order comes from)

Re:Call for support in scenarios
I've only been able to get active units to respond to messages. "Static" units just man their position.
