Questions about the new game
Will the new game have rear-guard units, captured guns able to limber, and (evil dictators:) ) real skirmishers that can return to their regiments?

What are (evil dictators) real skirmishers:unsure:

Re:Questions about the new game
rear guard is up to the scenario designer, I guess it would be historical based on the battle. captured guns can't limber, I did this to balance the idea of capturing a gun with all of the other variables that we can't do in a game. I would think that it will be harder to capture a working gun in this game as it's pretty easy and quick to spike a gun. Haven't messed with skirmishers yet, so that's still to be seen.

How about an more aggressive Cavalry Norb? That's one area I would like to see some improvement.

or the ability to dig in or atleast make breast works

OK, some wish list recapping:
* artillery that actually accomplishes something beyond 200 yds besides noise and smoke
* when arty is resupplied, please don't make them automatically redeploy which can be a PITA. More often than not, i manually redeploy individual guns from a battery in more strategic locations sometimes far far a way from their commanding officer
If a player wants them back in their original deployment position, they can always hit the commander's deploy button. In other words, once a gun is re-supplied leave it in its current position where ever that might be.
* manual targeting command for arty maybe by clicking on a specific flag or something
* some sort of flag indicator that a gun is re-supplyable
* spectacular explosions when the occassional casson gets a direct hit and/or possibly even a supply wagon
* far as supply wagons, they should be fair game 'red halo' targets when spotted by infantry, cannons or cavalry. Same for enemy commanders. Maybe they all wouldn't wander around so carelessly then.
* mortars and a couple large long range seige cannons
* a forced 'stop engagement and retreat' to their officer's position command at the brigade and division level
* walking wounded returning from the front lines maybe towards a hospital wagon. They would 'evaporate' after a while
* an engineering regiment per Division to construct pontoon bridges if no thing else. Maybe even blowing things up like those bridges in the Fburg mod! They would be armed with short range weapons such as shotguns and pistols.
* skirmishers that don't break and run at the first sign of the enemy
* cavalry is also way too skiddish
* a small sniper regiment (perhaps a dozen or less with a 1:1sprite ratio) per brigade with long range scoped rifles which could pick off an enemy commander or artillery crew (well beyond 200 yds.) though not always successful-maybe only dropping a horse now and then. Each sniper would have its own individual mini-flag for strategic placement and of course a regimental type commander for group movements. This small sniper regiment would obey brigade orders as any other regiment in the brigade except it would by design not engage too close to enemy lines but instead seek strategic locations for sniping based on its commander's AI or TC'd placement
* better officer orders vs. TCing them. When an officer is given a HOLD order for example, then TC'd momentarily to fight off an enemy cavalry squad, when unTC'd, the previous HOLD order should automatically be in place again
* the Brigade HOLD command should mean exactly that regardless of what its Division commander thinks. Many times i'll give HOLD orders to a Brigade commander only to find out later the brigade's order was 'mysteriously' changed to ATTACK and subsequently decimated by a suicide assault on a far off enemy grand battery.
* after spotting a lone lost regiment and bringing up the map screen to find that regiments commander for example, some kind of map command to return to the previous position
* map zooming
* Speaking of map and other sub info screens, they should disappear easier than trying to hit that small [X] in the heat of battle
* messages scrolled across the screen or similar instead of that annoying message sub screen which once again has to be gotten rid of by hitting that small [X]..very annoying as well
* when TC'ng the entire division with the '1' key, only the brigade, division, arty and cavalry commanders should be TC'd and not their subordinates. This is especially troubling with individual cannons as sometimes they have to be unTC'd one by one in order to unlimber and engage the enemy.
* when unchaining a regiment, they should not abandon their position to seek its brigade as they sometimes do
* smarter non-suicidal couriers
* more interaction from the Army commanding General when playing a Division commander.
For example, when an area is secured and relayed to the Army's General, a redeployment or re-enforcement order to other troubled Divisions could be issued
* an option in 'OP' to let the game choose immediate battle positions rather than spending time marching to the battle field. Sometimes its cool to march to the other end of the map and other times i just want to immediately get into the action
* and when marching, how about some of those old CW marching tunes as i mentioned in the music thread. How about some troop formation bugles now and then. Occasional rebel yells and yankee 'hurrahs' too
* it'd be cool to have civilian refugees fleeing from the battle area. Fburg mod comes to mind
* smoldering or burning house option
* lingering cannon and musket smoke option
* regimental fire by volley, at will, etc. options
Well, thats all i can think of at the moment:ohmy:
