The Bliss Farm Fire

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

The Bliss Farm Fire

Post by Jack ONeill »

Norb/Team,

Is there any way to turn off the Bliss Farm fire on the Picketts Charge map? I was trying to figure out why my troops were moving so slowly all of a sudden. I don't use this map very often so it took me a while to get it. The burning buildings must consume, ( ), a fair amount of memory or what-not. I already have the buildings turned down on the "Options" page. Thoughts?

Hey, what's new in your world?

Back on Topic:

Copy the 4_PPT.csv file from the SDK into your Mods\Maps - folder

Scroll down umtil you see the Terrain Table Sounds

Lines 65 and 66 Column E - remove the entries.

or

Viewing it from the Notepad option!

Change this to…

56800,77100,0,1,GFX_Smoke_1,,,,,,,,,,,,
54170,77520,0,1,GFX_Smoke_1,,,,,,,,,,,,

Look like this…

56800,77100,0,1,,
54170,77520,0,1,,

..... and I'd be interested to know if you thought removing the fire had much, if any, effect on performance.

DaV,

Yes, that worked.

Bedbug,

There is definitely a change for the better with the fire and smoke turned off.

Bed,

I run a relatively old Dell 2350 Comp, w/an ATI HD 2400 card installed. I have to turn down the options as much as possible to play. It does run the game though, both SP and MP.

I have a relatively new computer (about 3 months old) and I see no slow-down at all when the the fire is blazing! However, I have yet to figure out on how to turn the fragrant aroma of burning wood!

In theory there should be almost no difference with the fire on or off. The main hog is the sprites followed by the vegitation. The vegitation can be tweaked on-the-fly ingame by toggeling the "T" key and this will give you several levels of fps pickup.
