SandBox (What am I doing wrong?)

Ok, I've gone through all the steps for SandBox play, but when I go to battle I see my troops ex. (CSA) which I've selected to play but NO Union enemy troops appear. Am I missing a step here? SandBox is listed in the SP Section of SOW. It IS for custom battles against the computer AI?

I keep thinking I have to also choose the opposing forces as well before going to battle, and have tried this but the SandBox menu doesn't allow this step. I'm obviously missing something here in my old age but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Need help with this. Thanks.

BTW, I love this SOW, and adding Mods (which I've already done) is a breeze in your game!

Which battle type are you choosing? If you choose Attack, the enemy is usually on the other side of the map and you have to go find them. If you want to see the enemy right away, choose Line Of Sight and they will be pretty close.

Little Powell, thanks for the quick reply. I've tried Attack Mode and scrolled around the map somewhat, maybe I didn't look extensively enough. I also tried the Line of Sight Mode, but didn't see any opposition. I'll start SOW and try SandBox in LOS Battle Mode again. I did try Defend Mode on Culp's Hill but again I waited and the Union AI never appeared. I was probably moving my troops into various positions on the hill for approx. 10 minutes or so. I assume that duration would be enough time for them to make an appearance?

Not necessarily. The AI uses the road system exclusively. So depending on where the enemy starts and what system of roads he takes, he could be out of site for the first 15-20 min. The Gettysburg maps are not AI friendly in that there are not many crossroads.

Thanks Guys, Yeah, my impatience was showing. I played LOS Mode and finally found the enemy. I was thinking they appeared immediately like on the historical scenarios.

I'll have to remember not to take my stupid pills when I get up in the morning!

Hmmm... You should get dead bodies. Even if you have "Show All Dead Bodies" unchecked, you still get plenty of dead bodies. Maybe let the fighting go on a little longer and look for the bodies?

They won't show up if you completely disable the foliage (T key toggle).
