Rifle Ranges

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Rifle Ranges

Post by NY Cavalry »

I am new to modding and have a question. Please excuse my ignorance. I was trying to mod the ranges for sharps down to 160 yards and any weapon the cavalry would have used to 120 yards. I know I can change the type of weapon the Sharpshooters use to a rifle of lesser range, but that isn't what I am trying to do, and anyway that will not help with me trying to limit cavalry weapons ranges to either 120 or 140 yards.
In the logistics folder I opened "rifles" and made changes there, but that was to no effect. I am learning and will end up doing more harm than good in the short run.

Changing the maxium range in rifles.csv is what you want to do. After you make the changes, are you creating a mod with the new csv file in it? Then are you activating your new mod in the Modifications screen?

The file structure should be:
Mods
|
MyGreatMod
|
Logistics
|
rifles.csv
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

Yeah, it's gotta be in a mod like MTG said. Changing the included logistics files effects nothing in the stock game, they are provided for modding.

We are always happy to help a fellow modder. Now for your next assignment, you can delete all the unmodified rifles from your csv file and everything will work just fine. Norb set up the modding process so that you only need to put in the actual lines you change. That's so a player can download your mod and still use another mod that has other rifles modded, and there will be no conflict.
