Modem??? I started with a Radio-Shack TRS-80 back in the 70's. Used a cassette player to dl programs with a whopping 4K of RAM!! But seriously, I couldn't give an honest answer to your poll. I never connected till around '97 or '98. So whatever was the norm then is what I started at. Nice question though!:cheer:

Got ya beat. Mine was a Heathkit from Tandy (which I had to assemble myself), then I picked up a TRS-80 model 1 and then a model 4. Then I made the leap to a Commodore 64 with a 300 baud modem. Then whe the Amiga came out I picked up a 2000 and went to a US Robotics 128K modem.Modem??? I started with a Radio-Shack TRS-80 back in the 70's. War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.

Hi.
My first was a TI-99, vic20->com64->128->trs80-> then my real first computer Tandy 1000SL, and my wonderful 1200 baud modem. I should have kept all of them, but I just gave them away to my next door neighbors to use.
later!

Well, I just finished shaving my beard off, and nope, I don't look any younger...I look more disfigured, I'm seeing things that the beard covered so nope, I definately do feel older!

Cheers!

My memory is a little fuzzy but I want to say it was a 14.1. My family's first PC was a black Acer Aspire purchased in 93. It had 8 megs of ram. I remember when we upgraded to 16 megs of ram, it was like "wow.. it's so fast now!"
I also remember being extremely jealous when a friend of mine got a 56k modem...
