Which file do I need to edit?

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Which file do I need to edit?

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

Hi.

I'm looking to force my regiment to stay in column until they reach their position then fall into line formation instead of starting to fall into a line about 40-50 yards away (I have found that this really slows my troops to a crawl while getting into position, and more open for being slaughtered), or is this hard coded? I was playing Sid Meier's Gettysburg, and noticed that the troops follow there column order until they reach their destination.

If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Later!

you can TC them (take control) of each regiment and they will be forced to obey your formation commands. Yes this includes maintaining column formation until they arrive at their destination marker (even if they are under fire), and once they arrive, if they are taking fire, they will automatically form into battle line and start shooting back.

But changing formations while under fire can be costly, so ideally you should switch from column to line a few yards out of range and then advance to fire.

Or...Use Attackmarch - assign to keyboard

Or...Use the Bugles and Flags Mod, has built in 'column hold form' command on the toolbar (uses attackmarch)
Bugles & Flags Gettysburg - Toolbar, Flags, Scenarios, and More...

Hi ReBugler.

I have done that, but I would rather have it automatically done because I sometimes forget I have them TC'd.

Okee doke, I'll do that.

Thanks ReBugler.
