So Norb will have to come up with a serious verification system that will check to make sure that everyone has the same exact mod files, or the games will always go out of sync.
Then you missed the point. What we're saying is that we can deal with that. I said in the original post here that we have an auto updating launcher. This can check all the modded files and enabled mods and ensure compatibility before starting the game. Please don't be offended, but you guys don't play with us and thus don't appear to understand this, that's why we're coming here to ask.

Almost every other multiplayer PC game has MP mods coming out soon after release and it never hurts the community, they figure out how to do it. Not having them has certainly stifled this community and we want to change that sooner rather than later.

In the short term could modding MP's be opened up only to Garnier. His campaign has been a big plus for the MP community. In this respect, he could provide invaluable suggestions before it is finally opened up.

The community desperately needs at least 2 or 3 maps and an expanded SDK file for modding rifle ranges. In the campaign 250 yard rifles are used. This is not the best fix, but has been tolerable.

That would neither be possible nor helpful, everyone appears to be playing the campaign anyway so it wouldn't matter. Once mods are allowed the SDK has everything we need for modding gameplay. The maps are a different issue.

So every SOWGB multiplayer game is going to be played using your launcher? You're correct that we don't play with you, but I think you missed my point. It's great that you have a launcher and I'm sure it will make your modded campaign games run flawlessly, but not everyone is going to be using that. Norb will have to have some sort of verification system.

With all due respect, there are perhaps one possibly two games a day which are formed in the MP lobby which do not use Garnier's launcher (and I've not seen more than three players in any of them).

We had a game with 15 players the other night. Soon, maybe Sunday, we will try a 20 player game.

Right now, the MP community consists of the 40 or so people playing Garnier's Campaign, and about 4 other people.

Edit: Don't think I need to add anything to that.

No I completely understand. I'm talking about long term here. Having a standard system that's part of the game. With all due respect there may come a day when Garniers campaign mod goes away.. That's why there needs to be a standard system put in place.

I think it's awesome what you guys have going here and I knew it was only matter of time before the MP community really took off. :)

"I'm talking about long term here."

I hear you, Little Powell, and I hope the MP community continues to grow at the pace it has in the last few weeks.

But we're an impatient lot. It's hard for me to think past securing the next objective on the map.

As Little Powell is saying, all of us have lobbied for moddable MP play. The question is how to do it so everyone has the same important files to ensure synchronicity and to ensure that cheating doesn't happen. It would be all too easy for a dishonest player to use a file or two that gives him or his side an edge. I know that is not an issue with Garnier & Co since they are a small group that play regularly. But like any law, it is not written for 99% of the honest people but for the 1% that aren't. It would only take a very few cheats to give MP play a bad reputation such that no one would want to play. Just look at the convulsions MP play has had over legal, but gamey, tactics. Norb has to figure out how to accomplish all this in the MP environment. This game is his reputation. He needs to keep MP play at a high and reliable quality.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.
