No modpack?!

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

No modpack?!

Post by GShock »

I'm surprised to see there's no modpack ready with all the mods out.

Are there any plans to do a community megamod? Any ETA?

That's a great question. I agree that there are enough mods now to warrant a modpack. I think Adukes put together the CMP for TC2M.. Maybe he can do the same for this game, if not maybe I can take a crack at it.

Well you should. :)

To be honest, I've dropped the game a bit because it's simply impossible to play with the historical level and restricted cam. The only thing I really really need, is the ability to command troops from the mini map.

You can't ask the commanding general to issue orders from the front line just because he can't see the ground from where he is. He would have the map and would use the couriers based on reports from his subcommanders.

Drats I hope Norb does that, I can't wait to play again but I simply can't play the standard difficulty settings and I can't for the love of me understand why this feature is not in the game. It simply makes it impossible with restricted camera but that's the way the game is supposed to be.

How's the MTG extra arty damage mod doing? Is there a weapons mod like in TC2M ? I've seen the list you posted in the mods forum and I glanced at the CMP. I suppose the "enough mods" statement includes the contents of that one?

Same answer as 4 month earlier: Because of the easy to use build in mod function there's no need for a mod pack.

You're right I forgot... used to JsgMe... is there some sort of "official" modlist? I mean... the popular ones?

Yeah but it might still be kind of cool to have them all in one self extracting exe.

Here's the list of all of the released mods (minus my latest sprite ratio mod)

Are you playing with the enhanced artillery fire mod made by MTG? I've seen there's been a tourney while I was gone... :)

I've spent a month on jsgme to mod Silent Hunter V and I'm totally disrupted and don't feel like tampering. I think the self extracting exe is a great idea and not too hard to build, however, since SOWGB has an in-built mod management system (IIRC) it might be worthwhile using that one so as not to mess up with the stock data files.

No big deal when you can backup the entire directory so if you feel like doing the self installing exe, I'd be your first guinea pig. :)
