On removing flags

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

On removing flags

Post by Jack ONeill »

A moding question for us all - is it possible to remove the flags from the artillery caissons? I think it would improve the look of the game as it plays. Also, it kind of bugs me a bit for reasons I'm not quite sure of. Anyway, please let me know. If not, oh well.

Well, I doubt that you could remove the flags without crashing the game; also the unit would be un-moveable, by you the player!

Another, solution would be to make the flag so small, that it is hardy noticeable, sort of what I did with the icons that display above the units.

I wondered about the movement situation. Making them smaller would be an improvement. Thanks.

Here's a similar post from a while back.

What caissons? Haven't never seen any in the game! Now, I have seen limbers and #1 and #2 gun carriages, but never a caissons!

Jack,

Good point! Did mean limbers rather than cassions.

Jack – I had to go way back and dig this post up, I have learnt something useful about this subject, on the other forum this question was brought up, but this time there is a great solution to this problem.

You can make the flag invisible , this is a great solution due to the fact that the game will still draw the flag without crashing.

This was thought of by another modder – but it will solve the problem with the flags.

Just in-case you were still interested in this, despite the fact that this post is nine months old; it also might help someone else with this!
