Regimental Formation Changes

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Regimental Formation Changes

Post by SgtMjr24thMI »

In another discussion "The Manual", I commented on the complexity of movement the AI sends troops into whenever there is a need to change a regiments formation. I had some ideas (based on my reenacting for the last 25 years) on perhaps simplifying the movements. I got the following reply:
"Check out the drills.csv in the logistics folder. Level 6, lvl6, formations will show you the structure used for the game and this is the level that would have to be changed to accommodate your ideas. Mess with it, put it in a mod, make it work like you've suggested...I for one would like to see what you can come up with...improvements are always welcome."

I have never modded anything before. Could you direct me to a "modding, getting started" or provide me with direction to where these references can be found? Thanks a whole bunch!:)

Here's the best place to start. Download and install SDK found here:

http://www.norbsoftdev.net/index.php?op ... =124#23372

It explains all of the different files in the game and their functions. And once you've studied it, come back here to ask questions a I'm sure you'll have some. There are some great modders who will be more than happy to help you.
