I think it would be a GREAT addition to this website if there was a TeamSpeak server HOOKED into the PHP at the homepage so that players could actually see where the server is and who's playing multiplayer.

Players in rooms would be considered already in game while those in main lobby or other public rooms would be considered to be actually organizing the game so that everyone glancing at the website might be able to just join.

Just a tip for the webmaster. :)

I have the code to do that, but the teamspeak server has permissions set up so it's not possible. It's up the the TS server admins.

What is the best setup for our upcoming tournament, Scenario or Sandbox?

I've tried both and they seem about the same, although I like Alpine and Kansas to make it easier for newbies to play on.

Any thoughts, tips, or help with hosting this tournament.

Thanks,

My advice would be to use the system that we use with normal MP games, here. Some of the stuff it offers would be important for a tournament:

Balanced armies - Both sides get armies with the same average experience and numbers, and equal artillery. Sandbox games with stock OOBs are usually very unbalanced.

Balanced Objectives - Objectives can be set to be balanced between the two sides, so that fighting is forced. (You have to have objectives for it to be fun, because without them there's no reason for either side to attack).

Recorded results - The battle results are also recorded on the website so you can see how each regiment did. Example.

If you're interested and want to know how to use it, you could come on our teamspeak and test it out, we can answer any questions.

If you're looking for the simplest route, Norb's suggestion may be the way to go. Objectives can be nice, but they can complicate things, at least slightly. If the way to win is via points (and without the prospect of carry-over from one battle to the next) you'd be surprised how willing people are to get to fighting. (To that end, I submit our random games as examples).

But in any case, we'd still be happy to tell you more than you ever thought about wanting to know (often from different people simultaneously) if you log on to our teamspeak.

Absolutely use the balanced setting on the sandbox screen, if you have upgraded to the patch.

Our tournament went very well. We had to setup the 6 laptops using Static IP Addresses and then my laptop hosted the games. We did 3vs3 from 10:15-2:15, we all had much fun.

Thank you all for helping me with this,
