How much do you think the Downloaded version of SOWgb should be?

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

Hi.

In a much earlier post made by Norb, he mentioned lowering the price of the download version. How much do you think should the downloaded version be?

My Suggested Price is: Keep the game at current price.

Later!

Much less than it is now.

As a multiplayer person, what I want most is for more people to play the game, and I can't even convince my friends to buy it for $40. It's an independent game with very little publicity and a very small community. While it's a great game it's really hard to get people to pay that much when they don't see anyone else playing it. Lower the price and more people will play and continue to spread the word.

The successful indie games I've followed sold really cheap at first because they wanted to grow the community first. Once they had a large community and strong reputation, they were able to sell at a normal price such as $30.

If I only played singleplayer, I wouldn't care much if other people played it, so I wouldn't mind a high price after I already payed it.

Hello everyone. First I'd like to say that I'm new to the forums. As of right now, I do not own this game, however, I have just about worn TC2 out. I would truly love to purchase the download version of this game. But, being disabled, and living on a fixed income right now, $45.00 is alot for me to pay. Don't get me wrong, I deffinately realize there are costs to producing quality games. And if lowering the price would jeapordize in any way the future of this game, or, any other projects planned. Then I say, keep the price as is. However, if its possible to lower the cost, maybe down to around $20.00, at the most, or $30.00 at the least. Myself, and a few others could possibly manage that. I realize for some, $20.00 doesn't sound like much. To me, and others who love this game genre, and the time period. A reduction in price, would, at the very least, bring one more satisfied customer into the MP game lobby. I will continue to monitor the site. And hopefully get the opportunity to join you all soon on the battlefield. :)

Now Garnier, others, go spread the word to the guys that wouldn't buy it at the higher price. It's time for them to hit the battlefield! :)

I think at 59 bucks it's a steal.

But, hopefully, this will get more people into the game and it will catch fire as it should.

I've played online games for more than a decade and a half (or so), and SOW is by far the most fun and interesting and well done game I've played.

Best of luck to Norb and the boys; I hope you guys get rich, but not too rich.

I think the price is for the download version if I'm not mistaken. At any rate you are right $59.00 dollars for all that you get, including one of the best games made for this era is a very decent price to pay. The internet thing still bothers me a tad, but you have to give up something to get something this great I suppose.

Cheers, and take care.

That's right in the ballpark, so long as you are being compensated, $30 isn't a prohibitive cost when looking to grow the community of folks that play the game.
