Alternate Explosions with incoming shell sound UPDATE!!!

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Glad to know I wasn't the only one who had to change his underwear. It really does augment the atmosphere of the game.
Should I tone it down some more or keep it as is?
I don't have very good speakers so I didn't really notice a difference. I kept the 1st set in my game. I actually just replaced the originals in the base folder as they are so good. No need for a mod. One suggestion/request; could you tinker with the solid shot sound a bit. I thought putting that scream on the TC2M 'thud' sound might be interesting to hear.

Keep up the good work!
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

Hi MTG.

I was thinking of adding a screaming sound to the canister shot, so far I'm not having much success. I happened to find a really cool sound that would replace the canister shot, and I have to tell you if it sounds as good in game you'll have to change your pants a few times before the game ends believe me.

Oh if anyone is interested in taking a stab at mixing their own sounds then download this free audio editor.

Download Link: Audacity Sound Editor

Note: If you wish to export to a .mp3 file, you may have to download this .dll file. I'll upload it here, it's real small.

Thanks for the support MTG.

Hi.

Just unzip this file into your <drive letter>:\NorbSoftDev\Scourge of War - Gettysburg\Mods\Alternate Explosions\sounds directory. This sound file will replace I think the canister shot sound...I'm not 100 percent sure, but if you hear this sound, and if it's directed at you I strongly suggest you step out of the way, because it could be the last thing you do hear.

The sound is more of in your face kind of deal...

Note/Update: Well I have tested it, and I think it's a pile of steaming poo. I'll leave up for you to download, and decide. Just to let you know that if you are standing next to artillery, put cotton in your ears because this is thing could pop your few ear drums. :(

Some times it's best to keep the stock sound. In this case I think it best, besides how can one improve on perfection???

Let me know what you think of it.

Later!

It's amazing just how much these add to the realism.

Hi.

Thanks Chamberlain. The edited sounds do make a difference, Try out the new arty sounds as well. You'll see it listed in my signature.

You can have Alternate Explosions, and the New Arty Sound both activated at the same time, there will be no conflict.

Later.

Hello

I have a question for you. When I download some mods they give you a mod folder and all you do is add it to mods. I did not see one so I made a NEW folder called "new sounds" and put your explosions in it. I found it under mods and click yellow box on.

Is this correct?
