Server issues

Post by Jack ONeill »

Hey All,

Has the damned server crashed or is it my rig and/or connection? Been trying for almost an hour to get a game running with my kid. Has the Demo, I'm deactivated and can't get the server to connect. We both can get into the room and are both patched to the new, finished 1_12 patch (Thank you Norb/Team). Also, Teamspeak seems to have taken a dump. Must be Sunspots or something.

Okay, so Teamspeak is back. Cool. Still don't understand the Server issue. Tired, seriously tired...a need for many Martinis...

Okay, now that I'm not racing out of the house to go to work, I can ask this in a more restrained fashion.

The theory is someone with the "Demo only" game can play MP with the Demo with someone who has the full Game running but has deactivated it so it will play only the Demo.

Now, this is what happens - Colin and I can both get to the MP lobby, then into a room. We are fully patched to 1.2. (I'm hosting). The Server is running. When I click on the "scenarios" tab, literally nothing shows up in the Scenarios area. Both Sections there are empty - No OOBs, nothing. Should only show the Demo Scenario, etc. from what I remember. Anyway, can't play anything, obviously.

Also, I was wrong - the server was fine last night. When I reactivated the game, everything ran fine in MP for me.

Thoughts?

Interesting. Might be a bug there. Can any of you other MP players confirm this?

More strangeness. Is it possible that, even running in "Demo" mode, the Mods I have activated, when the game is activated, are interfering with the MP aspect? I doubt it, but you never know.

I'll see if I can do some testing on this tonight.

Well, turns out I was right. Disabling the Mods before deactivating the game allowed it turn run normally in "Demo" mode. Got on line for MP no problem. Good deal.
