Interviewing Programmers

Here you can talk about whatever floats your boat. Your favorite movie, sports team, etc. If it's a little racey, I suggest you post in R&R, otherwise we'll move it for you.

Yep - I am sure glad I did not go to grad school for history then I might be on here boring everyone with my lack of job prospects.
Yup, you just voice yours on teamspeak, for which we are all...grateful? You never did answer my previous question though.

Everyone on the team holds a full time, mortgage payer, job. We all do this in our free time and have been for many years. There's just not nearly enough money for anyone to live off of. The money we do make is mostly invested back in the development or used for advertising. We divvy up some of it and although it's appreciated, it is not enough for anyone to live off of. As I've said many times in the past, we could have made much more money if we had spent the hours working on this game, working at Wal-Mart instead :)

But the compensation in sanity makes this project much more worthwhile. Wal-Mart (and retail in general) are very...taxing on a person after even a short period unless you have boundless passion for it. Consider yourselves much more fortunate to have been able to spend the time here, even considering the other point(s).

We did consider Wal-Mart for a while, but they wouldn't let us work from home and we would miss out on the late night MP testing which is probably the most fun we have. Besides, we were only qualified to be greeters and none of us were nice enough to keep the position for any length of time :) Really, NorbSoftDev is about the only company that would keep this band of mutts employed for this long!

My current company will eat into some of my game dev time for a little while, probably over the summer.
Congratulations on the Job!

Hey, speaking about the dev time – what area of the game do you feel need the most attention?

Is it anything about the current game that you wish you could have done different?

What happen with the expansion map pack , is this still pending, or have you gone a different direction with that idea?

Hey, even Dick Cheney could do that job: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrIyYqbZZPQ

You just got the expansion map pack with 2 new maps and 10 scenarios and a bunch of features. For Free.

The big new things for the next release will be things that *should* improve overall performance. There will be a limited number of new game features (which specific ones TBD) but most of the dev time will be on base performance improvements.

-Jim

PS there will probably be more maps and battles too.

Not that I don't enjoy or appreciate the comments that have been made on this topic, the one that interests me the most is the PS comment by Jim. Thank you DEVTEAM.

Yes, Thanks!

But, I was referring to the map pack that was mentioned in the early days as an additional add-on. (i.e.….cost)

I would like to see some additional maps the size of the new Gettysburg map, except without the roads or the cornfields, basically blank.

Considering that we can’t make any maps, this would give the modders the ability to customize these random maps, with the ability to change the landscape around such as roads, trees, fields, etc…
