Suggestion for Patch Installation & Keyboard.csv

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

Hi.

My suggestion is thus. When a person installs a game patch the keyboard.csv is overwritten with the latest keyboard.csv. It would save you folks from having to tell people to rename this file, then copy it over here, then make a coffee, have dinner, shower, and a shave, etc etc (you get the idea) :pinch: :S

This world is hard enough to live in so why create another headache when there is no need.

Later...

I think it would be even more of a headache when people start screaming "my custom keyboard.csv has been overwritten by the patch! All of my custom keys are gone!!!!" ;)

The installation would do a simple backup before overwriting. I could be wrong here, but the only posts I have seen all seem to deal with why certain keys don't work which then requires for some a lengthy explanation on how to do a simple rename, and copy.

With a game this great, I am very confident that you fine folks will be adding more keyboard commands in future releases.

Just a thought.

Cheers.

Or during installation, a window pops up asking "Overwrite existing keyboard layout? Clicking YES will install the new keyboard features but will delete custom keyboard commands you have implemented." or something to that effect.
You can get farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.
