Alternate Explosions with incoming shell sound UPDATE!!!

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Hello

I have a question for you. When I download some mods they give you a mod folder and all you do is add it to mods. I did not see one so I made a NEW folder called "new sounds" and put your explosions in it. I found it under mods and click yellow box on.

Is this correct?
No - that is not correct!

After extracting the file - all that is required would be to place the Alternate Explosions folder into your Mods Folder.

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

Hi.

Okay. The mod is already for you to install. I will go step by step so that I can help clear up some things up for you. I understand that it can be confusing when you are new to this sort of thing.

1: Download the File (which you have done)

2: Extract the contents of the Alternate Explosions2.0.rar into <drive letter>:\NorbSoftDev\Scourge of War - Gettysburg\Mods folder.

The attachment setup_2011-05-08.JPG is no longer available

When in the game, go to Modifications, and select the Alternate Explosions mod, and that is all that is required to play with these new sounds.

That's pretty much it.

I hope this helps...

Hi
I understand all that but when I download I get the sound files and one text file. There is no "yellow folder" or main folder. Why?

Hi.

It's curious that Winzip didn't work. I think in Winzip you have to select an option to keep the directory structure which would explain why you ended up seeing only the files.

Anyway, I'm happy it worked out. :)

Cheers.

Mikesla--quite the wicked incoming shell-impressive! Looking forward to hearing the new files in a battle, although most likely it'll put the fear of God into me. I was wondering with your expertise in sound files you could help with a solution to the almost non-existent rifle fire level in the game. It really kills the immersion factor. The arty shells are much louder, but at the right level. I have the latest patch, but everytime I go and play TC2M I notice how much more up, close, personal and crisp (and loud) the rifle fire is. Is there a patch for this I haven't seen or what do you suggest?

Hi MarcusC.

Thank you for the Compliment. :)

I know the original (stock) musket sounds are really low, and I could spend the time on finding new, and better sounds to replace these, but there is no need too.

Little Powell has already created a great musket sound edit which can be found HERE. I suggest you run his edit from now on.

Cheers, and again thank you for the compliment.
