Experimenting with the default fields!

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

So are you going to put this in moddable format?
Yeah, I think that I can come up with something, but I really do need a sort of blank map that is not that authentic, where the input of made-up names really don't matter that much.

The default game doesn't allow for long names to be used in the tool-bar, so that is why I have moved the names to an area directly above the tool-bar.

Most of this is slightly west of the town of Gettysburg, so I added in names such-as, Grassy Field, Cemetery Field, Double Cemetery, The Grassy Knoll, and The Killing Field.

I have also added in a lot of unmarked trails on the new Gettysburg map, to help keep the AI from constantly using the main roads.

I just now started adding names to the TGA file based on the Open Play Games that I was playing when a crucial piece of real-estate played a major role in the fighting.

I sort of get distracted when fighting for land that doesn't have a name associated with it, names seem to give a meaning to the fighting.

I would also like to get some of the real-names also into the TGA file, such as...Cemetery Ridge, Seminary Ridge, The Peach Orchard, The Wheat-Field, The Triangular Field, which I have absolutely no idea were that field is really located, and a few others.

In short – this is still a work-in-progress......

The Triangular field is immediately to the SW of Devil's Den. Coordinates 86928, 67696 on the DD map puts you in that field.

The new version of the Courier & Mini-map mod has quite a few place names added to the new G'burg map.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

Thanks, Jim – I have been wondering where that field was for quite a bit of time, probably quite a few other locations that I should also know.

Thanks, MTG – after the latest patch came out, I deleted all of my mods, so I’ll download that one again.
