Longer Sandbox Games

Post by AZReb11 »

I have a question: Whenever I try to do sandbox games with Division vs. Division or higher, the game will only last for about a few hours before one side is victorious. With the hopes of a long game to test my skills, I am naturally disappointed for the battle to be over before my brigade/division sees action. The time limit is set at 0 and the max points is 10000. What am I doing wrong?

You can always choose to continue fighting when the battle is declared "over." Just hit the Return To Battle button and you can go back and continue to fight.

Yeah, I am already doing that. I just wondered if there was a way you can make games actually drag out, so-to-speak. I mean, on games with objectives, the battle, no matter how large, will always get resolved within an hour or two. And that sucks when I want a big battle. Because when the time runs out, the objective disappears. How do you do your sandbox games, if you do them at all? In fact I would be interested on how anyone does a sandbox game, and the results that stem from it.

One problem with sandbox I dislike, is the lack of communication. I am told to take an objective (assuming I have superior commanders) and that is all the communication I get. Personally I like a game with lots of communication, which is why is SOOOO want to be competent enough to do a multiplayer game. Only problem is there aren't many people ever in the lobby...if anyone ever wants to do a multiplayer game with this noob, let me know. I would love to learn how to more effectively play this cool game.

we usually don't go to the lobby till we are ready to fight. most of us use Teamspeak to meet for battles. Check out the MP forum for more info, or check out

http://www.sow.philipmcg.com/

that's the homepage for the campaign most of the MP community plays.

Ah, I see. Thank you!

I was kind of confused by the MP section of the forums, though. Is there also a server for regular battles besides the one already in the game? Cause when I get on that one I rarely see anyone else there.

...ok...I have downloaded Game Tracker Lite and I can't find it on my computer nor connect to a server...and what in the world does this mean?
"You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'OR battle_players.player = ) THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) AS session_player FROM battl' at line 4"
(Maybe I should repost this in technical support ;) )

On weekdays, shoot for the evenings (around 6:00-6:15 PM CST). Weekends are more wide open, although most of the action happens in the afternoons and evenings US time. There is no other place to get into games than the MP lobby offered through the game. It's true there is rarely anyone in there - we don't use it unless we're transitioning to a game. Nobody wants to sit there alone for an eternity. That's why we suggested TeamSpeak, as it's more likely to have people around and is the best place to try and get a game organized.

Oh, okay. But what exactly do you mean by, "transitioning to a game"? Do you mean the campaign on the Garnier Campaign Server?

There is no Garnier Campaign server. All he means is we sit in teamspeak until a game forms, then we go the the SOW lobby. All GCM games are played from the SOW lobby. Once you've registered and created your divisions, you only need to come on teamspeak or sit in the SOW lobby and wait until we come there to play.
