Multiplayer Options button

Post by cliometrician »

As far as I can tell, I am unable to customize the AI in MP mode. No matter how high I set the AI morale, or reg. strength, or aggressiveness, it has no effect in MP. What am I missing?

I can custom for solitaire, but in MP mode the custom button has no effect. An example: I set a solitaire game for 150 percent AI reg. strength....and I was outnumbered by 23,000. Did the same thing with the MP custom button and I was outnumbered by less than a thousand.

Is the MP Options button simply inoperative?

The regular difficulty options will not effect the MP difficulty options. When you are hosting an MP game, you can set the MP options that will effect all other players. See page 39-40 in the manual.

I always host, and always use the MP options button, and there is no effect, no matter how I customize....as I said. If I change AI regimental strength, morale, or aggressiveness, there is no change. Now what am I doing wrong?

you have to set the options (I may be using the wrong term) to "custom"

SS,

I believe you are right - settings to Custom. (Phasers on FULL). :)

As I said in my first post, I "customize"--that's the only way that the button works. But like I said, when I customize using the normal button for solitaire, everything is fine. When I customize using the MP button in an MP game, it has no effect!

So I need someone here to tell me that you play MP, you use the MP option button to customize the AI, and it works perfectly. I have yet to see this happen.

Simmer down there, slick. We were trying to help. I'm sure someone more qualified will be along eventually. My rig is so old I haven't bothered to try and host. That will change soon  but you'll be wanting an answer before that occurs, no doubt.

Like I said in my first reply, the normal game options will not effect the MP options. Your mention of the AI strength, morale etc. tells me you are changing the normal game options. Those are separate from the MP options. The MP options are limited to preset difficulty options, map icons display level, camera distance, couriers, and realism, and a couple graphics options.

What you do in your normal game options will not effect MP.
