I had a similar problem when I restored my system from a restore point after a crash and I wasn't able to deactivate the game. Contact tech support with your problem and they'll fix it for you. They're very good and prompt. Here's the link.

They will need a copy of your activate.log which is in NorbSoftDev\Scourge of War - Gettysburg\work folder and your activation key which was emailed to you when you bought the game.

That's a relief! Thanks very much for the advice. I'll get on to the tech support guys now.

You're not doing anything wrong. It's a bug in the stock courier file. Just download the Courier mod and it will work correctly.

Thanks again MGT. I will definitely download the mod. Sandbox is the way I normally play, as I just like the uncertainty of not knowing what you will face. Definitely agree that couriers is a great way to play.

Good news on my activation problem. The tech support team came back very quickly and am hopeful I will be back in the full game shortly. Not bad for a weekend problem.

While waiting, I have tried using couriers in a couple of tutorial scenarios in the demo, and the 'Move to.....' command now works fine. So I guess some of my earlier problems must have been down to a bad download after all.

I do have a couple more questions on couriers:
(a) Is there now any use for the "Execute the Following Orders" command in the stock game?
(b) I don't seem to receive a status report from subordinates, even when I request one. Is that one of the glitches in the stock game you referred to?

So there's no bug in the stock courier file.

I'm not saying that. I mentioned the lack of status reports in my previous post, and I also still cannot seem to get generals to obey the 'Probe' order. That tends to support MGT's view that there are problems with it.

All that said, I just don't think I know enough about the game to be sure.

"Execute the following orders" is no longer necessary in your orders. That problem was fixed. With the exception of "request support" none of the orders under 'Support' work in single player. They are meant for MP. The same holds true for all the 'Information' orders.

MTG, am I missing something here, do the courier commands with 'move to destination' need 'Aform:...' additions?
Yes. There are several errors in the stock courier.csv of that nature. The best solution, the one I used in my mod, is to just put an A in front of all the commands. They will work for individual regiments in addition to larger units. I think the only one that doesn't is 'forcepath' for making an individual regiment use the roads.
You put an 'A' in front of what commands? There are no formations listed that I can find.

For the most part, all of those that don't have an A in front.
Examples: In stances change orders to Aorders
doubletime change run to Arun
All move orders change move, movespec, etc to Amove, Amovespec, etc

When in doubt, stick an 'A' in front of it. ;) I've attached my version of couriers.csv
The attachment courier.csv is no longer available

Many thanks again for the additional information MTG. Do you think there is any chance that some of the 'Information' orders might be enabled at some point? Evewn in multiplayer, it would really add to the game if you could say send individual cavalry regiments off to patrol and report back on what they find.

Don't know how difficult that would be to program however.

I'm back into the full game btw. Technical Support were very helpful & speedy, so a big thank you to them as well.
