Hi.
I just tested SOWgb with the 3D software, and Glasses and the compass looks like it's coming right out the screen. The mouse cursor looks really cool, and hovers above the screen, the battle field looks cool...I will be doing some more tweaking of the controls to see what else I can come up with...
Well I'm off to do some more playing in 3D.
The screenshots I posted earlier in the discussion area don't work so I took them down.
Here is the link to my earlier post about the 3D software: http://www.norbsoftdev.net/index.php?op ... Itemid=124
Man I have to try this with Call of Duty 4, and Oblivion.
Later!

Oh WOW.
I just started to have a game of Fear 2, and this is just incredible It's full 3D, no degradation of quality. This is actually the very first time that I have played a real 3D game....
Oh man I have to buy software, it's given new life to the games I have.
Simply WOW!

Hi.
Well this is the last posting about this, I have to go do some gaming.
First, there is a degradation of quality due to it's creating dual images which you can correct to some comfortable degree by using the default keys keypad plus, and keypad minus. There are other settings you can poke around with to help clear up some of the small, but minor annoyances.
Second, if you are using glasses which are not the red/cyan colors, then you have to set the Directx to custom colors. (the color glasses I am using is Red/Green).
So far the games I have used this with are SOWgb of course, Fear 2, Call of Duty 4, Oblivion, Arma, and Arma 2, BIA 1, 2, and 3. R.U.S.E. I have a few more games to test this out on, and so far I had to do little bit of work on the settings to get things right.
One thing that I have found annoying is that you can't play the games for long stretches with the glasses or you will end up having a headache before long so taking breaks would be something that you may wish to consider.
All in All I will give this software 8.5 out of 10. It's quite ingenious piece of work, and free. You have to purchase a license if you wish to unlock other drivers.

Re: My God, the 3D works! I just got the glasses, and damn, it really works!
Hi.
My Setting:
Device: Anaglypth(free) driver with Custom Colors.
Well I have tried every possible setting to play SOWgb with 3D. Yes it's cool, but it's next too impossible to get the proper settings for the men to look correct, and having 3D does place an extra load on your GPU, and CPU.
Now with that said the other games I have played with 3D enabled works very well. Oblivion for one is simply incredible to play in 3D, and the first person shooters I listed above work nicely.
Even if you use the setup wizard for SOWgb, for some I cannot get a comfortable zone of images. Others may have better luck with it.
For SOWgb it's a 3 out of 10. Of course others may have better experience if using a different device, and better glasses.
For Oblivion it's a 9 out of 10 hands down, no doubt about it.
For Freelancer it's a 8 out of 10 for coolness, and is a blast to play, but you end up losing all information display text/icons...not good. But for others who would be using other drivers may not have this problem.
Call of Duty is nice, but somewhat difficult to get the proper clear comfortable settings to play without having your eyes bleed. All the same though allot of fun.
Fear/Fear2: Now this is an experience, I can only say prepare to have your socks blown off. Being Creeped out in 3D is the way to go.
Fallout 3: You have to do some tweaking to get this right. I used the wizard to get the settings correct for me to play without having to blow a chunk or two.
Well, I am going to try Doom 3 to see what the effects will be for this creep fest, and I'll be loading a top down rts game to see what I can get out of that.

Hi.
Since my glasses are the colors of Green, and Magenta I could have been having a problem here for correctly setting up SOWgb. If you do happen to have these color glasses you can fix this under <AnaglyphOutput> in the config.xml
Here is the forum Link for instructions.
Forum Link:http://forum.iz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=5 ... lor+colour
OR
Replace what is in your config.xml with this. (paste this between the <AnaglyphOutput>, and </AnaglyphOutput>
<!-- Green / Magenta "least-squares projection method" (Eric Dubois) matrix -->
<CustomLeftMatrix m00="-0.062" m01="-0.158" m02="-.039" m10="0.284" m11=".668" m12=".143" m20="-0.015" m21="-.027" m22="0.021" />
<CustomRightMatrix m00=".529" m01=".705" m02=".024" m10="-.016" m11="-.015" m12="-.065" m20=".009" m21=".075" m22=".937" />
Hope this helps.
Also Doom 3, and other opengl games at the moment require a wrapper. I'm looking into it, and if I find anything that works well I will post it for you.
Man, this is a blast playing in 3D. For those who do not have this free download, you are really missing out on something very cool.
Well I'm off to try SOWgb again.
Update:
I have just finished testing out the new color setup on SOWgb, and it is much clearer. I am the moment testing out other setups used for other game profiles. So far aftre tweaking the settings while playing SOWgb, I have finally been able to get the maps to look correctly.
The map icons stand out more, and less blurry. It's very interesting watching the troop icons moving above the 2D map. It's pretty cool to say the least. I had the monument almost look 3D in scope, that was cool looking.
I am one step closer of getting this too work. Once I get the setup proper I'll post my results, and I'll give those a hand who wish to try this excellent 3D program for themselves, and play SOWgb in 3D.

Hi.
I'm no longer going to post about this here. I don't think that this should be discussed here because it seems to be taking peoples attention away from SOWgb itself.
If you are interested in this sort of thing then you can visit my website/forum area.

I will have to check it out. Where did you get your glasses? For Oblivion it's a 9 out of 10 hands down, no doubt about it.

My mother-in-law has a movie which is 3D, and came with glasses so I borrowed the movie. The best way to make your own the next time your out to the local Walmart, or Zellers etc, just pop in where they sell school, or business supplies. Grab yourself two sheets of plastic covers (reports etc) one RED, and the Other CYAN. Make glasses for yourself, and if you wear glasses already, just create a clip on that will just slip over the frames.
I have to use the custom color option to use the glasses I have because they are Green/Magenta.
