Line of sight starting position
Why can't the line of sight troop starting positions be implemented into "hunt them down no objectives" so we can have bigger battles without the armies starting right on each other? Hunt them down no objections spreads the sides out way to far, and prevents you from having bigger battles with pre strategy. If you can fit 68,000 soldiers in a small area as in Chickamauga OOB line of sight, why can't that be installed for hunt them down to. As is it is impossible to have a big battle without getting lucky with the big Gettsburg map. This is the one big issue I have with this game, line of sight makes it so you can have a battle without being mixed to start, but there is no strategy in line of sight pre-battle. If the troop positions started with line of sight being set on opposite corners of the map, then I would never have this problem, which occurs with ubiquity. I don't understand this?

Re: Line of sight starting position
Ok it took a few reads but I think I know what you're requesting here. Line of sight sets up your forces in a straight line, but hunt them down sets them up staggered in several lines. You want your forces setup in a straight line for hunt them down, like they are for line of sight. Am I correct?
Re: Line of sight starting position
Thought I'd jump in--not sure if that's what he wanted, but having the forces in one or two straight lines for the "hunt them down" would be awesome if possible. Starting the battles intermingled with the enemy makes for quite a mess to start battles. I've been playing most of my sandbox battles on the Alpine map after reading that it's really the only battlemap right now that can accommodate large army vs army battles. Another question-is there any way for the lines to be further apart in the "line of sight" setting at this point? Thanks!

I have the same problem. it seems to be with most types of sandbox games. only when i want to play with the whole army. some times the armies are right on top of each other and start fighting before i have time to look at the map. the new maps are awesome, especially the Gettysburg one, and to be able to discover your enemy and fight him on that map would be great. the problem is, they're right on top of you.

Re: Line of sight starting position
If you play Army level sandbox games (or even Corps level sometimes, depending on the size of the map) there's a chance that the two sides will start on top of each other. It used to happen a lot more often but it has improved. We hope to have the bug squashed for good in a future patch/expansion, but for now just reload the sandbox game until the sides are spread apart.

Yeah that's what I've been doing. Thanks for answering though. Can't wait for the bug to be fixed!
Another thing I notice on Army level games is that sometimes the armies will be within range of each other and not react. have you heard of this before?

When the game overwhelms your computer resources, stuff starts shutting down...engagements, appearing to engage, but no smoke, failure to follow commands, other oddities. These issues are at the top of the 'to be addressed' list. Sometimes it's just at the user end, inefficient cooling of CPU and VGA, or, computer programs running in the background...restart PC to address this.Yeah that's what I've been doing. Another point that you may take into consideration would be to Save the Games when you start a battle, and the armies are spread apart.Yeah that's what I've been doing. Thanks for answering though. Can't wait for the bug to be fixed!
Name them something like – Facing North[/b], or Marching South – this will give you the opportunity to play this particular battle again.
Also, the AI will usually move in the same direction as in the first saved game, but if you change your movements the AI will also do things different.
I follow this procedure with all of my Open Play games.

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

Great suggestion Davinci. It's always cool to play Sandbox on the big Gettysburg map and create a what if where a rebel force came in from a different direction. Also for example you can re-create when Early's Division moved into the town on June 26th.. But instead, you can have a comparable Union force there to meet him..Another point that you may take into consideration would be to Save the Games when you start a battle, and the armies are spread apart.Yeah that's what I've been doing.
