SOWGB Patch 1.3

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Norb, or Team Members

This is related to the new SDK

It appears that only three files were changed in the SDK

1) demoscreens – not concerned about this one
2) gui
3) mscreens

Now, it appears that only one line was added in the gui file – which line would that be?

Also - it appears that approximately 55 lines that were added to the mscreens file.

Question – if the columns are staying the same within these files, why not just list the changes \ amendments.

This approach seems to cause a constant change within the mods, and it is also quite irritating trying to figure out what changed and why.

Why can’t you only list the changes \ additions – so that this process of constantly updating the mods are a lot better.

Explained another way – if only one line changed in the gui why not just post that one line – this is a lot better than trying to edit a hundred lines in a custom gui file.

If fifty-five lines changed in the mscreens why not just post a file that only have these changes – then we \ modders – are only looking at a simple Copy and Paste – to keep these files compatible.

the reason we don't do all that is because we have limited time. we highly depend on the knowledgable people on this forum to handle those items for us. we must draw the line in the sand somewhere so that we can continue to develop the game. we could do a lot more, but there has to be a place where we say enough. thanks to people such as yourself, we are helped greatly in supporting the modding. it's really just a bonus to us, we provide modding as a service, but do not debug mods. that's just beyond the scope of what we are able to do.

* A bug that caused the command line entry prompt to appear in the chat window at the top left of the screen during chat has been fixed.
Thank you for this. I can confirm the fix for in game chat, but the problem still persists when writing courier messages and when using chat in the multiplayer lobby.

Thank you. We'll make sure and look into this during our next MP test.

OK, thanks for the response back on this!

At first it just didn’t make any sense to me, but I was looking at the problem through a narrow scope, but now that you have stated the above, I completely agree with you.

I shall resign from my previous statement, and try to doing more to help the community.

That’s my new word for everything I shall resign from this…...

Did cruiser ever get the game to work? I'm interested in what he has done.

When Adukes awakens it's best to listen, he normally only points you in the direction, he rarely gives directions (from what I have read).

Later.

Downloaded and installed the 1.3 patch. Tried playing two different scenarios and the game crashed both times. This has never happened to me before. Is it possible to easily reinstall the previous version of the game? Or are you working on a fix to 1.3?

Regards, CJ.

Were not working on a fix for 1.3 because the patch is working flawlessly for most people. I've only seen two cases of it causing issues so it's more than likely machine specific, corrupt download etc.

Please post the contents of your log file after the crash. Hopefully it will give us a clue.

Hi ... I will reinstall the patch and try another scenario. The scenarios I've been playing are the three add-on scenarios that break a regiment down into companies.

Thanks, CJ
