Problem with demo...please help!

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Problem with demo...please help!

Post by ComradeLucifer »

Hey Guys,

Really want to try this out, but cannot seem to get the demo to run. After installation (which wasn't done in program files, was done with admin rights and with mcafee temporarily off) I still get the same problem- a black screen with just a little square of the gold border visible with the letter s- probably part of "Gettysburg"). The first time I run it, as in after restarting my computer, I get a crash message pointing to powerrender6_8.dll as the culprit. I have a new XPS 15 Laptop with windows 7 and a top of the line graphics card as will as i7 quad processor, so I don't see this as being the problem. Can anybody help me?

Thanks,

-CL

Hi, norb is expert- but I would remove all traces of demo and download the full version like it says- make sure it installs properly and then purchase for $29.99(cheap) and get into a great battle- my advice thanks B)

actually, I'm sorry- need to clarify. I did download the full game (where it asks you for a key or to hit cancel for the full game) It's after a hit cancel on this and the game starts that the crash occurs every single time.

I've seen this before. Unfortunately, top of line graphics card in a laptop is a misnomer. I suspect it's a video problem with your card. Try the uninstall, re-download , and re-install like R says and let's see what happens.

I have a nvidia gt540 @ 2.20 ghz with i7 quad core. Good news; it works! I have to play it through an HDMI cable on my TV, but I do this for games any way. Some games require this; usually they are older or use sprites- and I notice this uses sprites. Does anybody have any idea why I'm experiencing this strange phenomenon?

I would try to install DirectX 9c on your computer. Get the latest. Then update your video card drivers. I do not know exactly why you would have this problem, but our game is written to 9c.

One thing that we tell everyone. If you are not happy with the way the demo runs, do not buy the game. It's the same exact game. That's the main reason we have the demo, so that you can test it out before you buy. Being a small shop, we cannot offer custom support for every card out there, so it's best to try before you buy.

What are your 3D settings in the NVIDIA control panel?
