crash problem

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

crash problem

Post by vuduchicken »

When I try to run any sand box or custom scenerio, the game crashes when loading. The Gettysburg scenerios seem to work fine, it's only the sand box and custom scenerios. This seem to have started since I ran the new patch, but I also installed a couple of mods too, so I don't know.

Disable your mods and see if the problem persists. More often than not they are the culprit.

Nope that wasn't it. I disabled all the custom scenerios except for Hill's, Kershaw's, and DRF, all of which worked fine before, and it crashed upon loading again. Also before it started crashing, (and I posted here), I noticed the buttons didn't work, but when I pressed the "m" key the map popped up & down.

If you are sure that all mods are disabled, then try re-downloading the patch. It's possible it is corrupt.

Also, post the contents of your sowgb.log file found in the Work folder after the crash.

Try downloading the 1.3 patch again (it maybe a bad download) and re-install it.

Let us know.

I reloaded the patch again, restarted my pc, and tried again only to have crash several times in custom scenerion mode, (DRF-Jul 2 Little Round Top C-Brig). I've played it many times before and it always worked, now it crashes. Also the sand box works half way now, the icons have changed and now they don't work, so the menu must have changed. How can I change it back?

You haven't told us if this problem occurs when you have NO mods enabled.

It works fine during the regular Gettysburg scenerios as i stated above. It crashes completely while loading during the custom scenerios, and loads and starts in sand box mode, only the menu icons are have changed (there are a buch of wierd colored horse shoe icons) and they don't work. However when I press the "m" key the map pops up & down and the esc key works. I'm not sure what I haven't told you.

As for any mods being enabled, ONLY the one the has the DRF scenerios is enabled. All others do not have the yellow square next to them displaying.

I just want to understand this. If ALL the mods are disabled then everything works fine. But if you enable the mods you have a problem.
