Attach/Detach Brigade vs Attach/Detach Regiment

Game won't run. Keeps crashing. Hopefully we won't get any posts here, but if we do, we'll try to help you out. You can also post any bugs that you find here. IMPORTANT: Don't post mod related problems here!

Ha! :)
You can attach regiments to whoever you like.
You can detach brigades - theres a button for it.
You can attach them - why limit it to just one commander!
Hmmm, I'm off to go and test this out!

Tested - it doesn't work on my Game, it appears that you can only attach them back to the original Brigade Officer!

Ok - ill have a look again later - but the basic scenario was this.

Im corps commander - I have three divisions under me. Right, left and reserve. The right comes under pressure, but I dont want to weaken my left so I decided to attach a brigade to that general (i was playing HITS - so i dont TC troops or control subordinate generals other than attack orders - i would just detach a brigade if i wanted to order it around.)

So I decide to detach a brigade from the reserve division and give it to the div commander on my left.

I detached it, but had been reading this post recently and knew i needed to get a special cursor to combine the troops. So i clicked on the attach regiment and the cursor appeared. I didnt know the difference, so i clicked on the div commander, and the troops under their new brigade commander started moving off under AI control towards that commander.

Now im not convinced that worked - i just want to know whats possible. The higher up you play the more useful attach/detach becomes I would think!

From the manual. The italics are mine.

"Attach/Detach This button causes the selected
commander or unit to be attached to or detached
from its superior commander. If the Detach button
is selected, the selected commander or unit will no longer respond to orders
from the previous superior commander, but will still be under AI control,
and as such will still wheel and otherwise respond to nearby enemy units to
protect itself or fulfill its Stance Order. It may be reattached to its original
superior commander (but no other commander) by using the Attach button.
"

I don't think you can do that either. I set up a D v D Sandbox and detached a regiment from one brigade but saw no way to attach it to another brigade.

born – I have learned that con20or will add things into this game, and when you go off to look for them, they are not there!

I haven't looked at the way the game controls that feature, but I don't think that it would be moddable.

My first answer would be that there is not a way of rearranging the current OOB, but when the units are detach under a new Brigade Commander this would also rearrange the OOB.

So, it might be possible!

Basically, from a modding stand-point, we probably only know about ten-percent of what this game can do!
