A question on orders.
Forgive me if this has been answered someplace before, I haven't been able to find this particular situation.
I haven't been playing the game that long, so I'm probably missing something here.
Situation: Playing sandbox, brigade level as the brigade commander.
I have a unit that is rested, not in combat and the nearest enemy unit is 163 yards away in a small grove of trees.
Upper left on the screen it says "No valid targets in weapon range, Closest Visible Unit: 13th Pennsylvania Reserves, 163 yards"
When I send this unit a command (the unit being the 15th South Carolina) to either probe, attack, or advance, the unit will not move. The only way to get it to move is to TC and click the ground to make it move.
Is this supposed to happen or did I miss a step in the order giving process.
Any answers to this would be greatly appreciated.

They know better than to attack the Bucktails.

Well I'd take that as a good answer if the Bucktails had stood and fought them off the first 3 times they were engaged.
But they didn't

Did you use the same orders to attack previously?

Unfortunately no, these orders have never worked for me so I wind up using the TC and forcing an attack that way. Also, I do release the TC so that the commander can send orders to the unit.
They respond to every OTHER order in the list, just not the ones having to do with attack, probe etc.. They seem to just ignore those completely.

I don't think regiments or guns take stance orders, gotta be a brigade or above. Still, they can be ordered to move, advance, map, etal.

Re: A question on orders.
Yes, probe orders cant be given to units. Just like when you select a unit, the hold, all out attack orders etc dissappear as options.
I actually have never used the probe order, but i thought you had to use it in conjunction with a location? As in 'probe towards mcphersons ridge' or at the very least 'probe to the north'. I would have to check it out though.
EDIT : Looked into 'probe' last night, you dont need to specify a location. The courier message is 'develop the situation to your front' or something like that. _ THIIS IS INCORRECT - SEE BELOW
Second Edit: Not sure if it is due to the bugles and flags mod, or MTG's courier mod, or was always in game but there is an option to probe A) in a direction, and B) towards a specific location. Just wanted to clear that up in case anyone comes across this post in the months to come.
