Great Antivirus/Spyware Utility

Here you can talk about whatever floats your boat. Your favorite movie, sports team, etc. If it's a little racey, I suggest you post in R&R, otherwise we'll move it for you.

Great Antivirus/Spyware Utility

Post by born2see »

For those of you who have ever had a virus which wouldn't allow you to run any anti-virus software (or any executable for that matter), here is a great utility. It creates a Linux boot disk with the AV software so you can clean your computer. You could also use a flash drive or external HD but that might require some more work to make those bootable.

The only problem is that when you burn the ISO you freeze the virus definitions so you would have to burn it again to update. That's a small problem in my mind.

Here's the link:

If you are able to use re-writable DVD's that would be the way to go.

If you are looking for a way to make your flash drive bootable take a look at a tool here for doing just that...

Note: Your Bios must have the ability to boot from a usb, if not then your out of luck.

Other Link to make USB bootable: http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm

Note: To make a bootable flash drive DO NOT do a quick format, you are required to do a full format otherwise it won't work.

BitDefender bypass everything. When it fails to delete a malicious program, reboot the system so safe and it works ... and how it works.

Before considering an antivirus program you need to know if it is to be installed on an OS to 32 or 64 bits. Surely you've noticed that some emblazoned SoftHouse declare their jewel "compatible" , then, NOT built for 64-bit code. Be careful before you head off on a suicide attack.

An AV must protect the browser, all browsers! Not only that, eg IE! It must protect the emails, regardless of the management program, a user uses to his liking.
NO program can check your email in Gmail when using Chrome are read!
ANYBODY? No one there. Finally after all this time I found it. Try free for 30 days a package of BitDefender.

There will be no need to use WOT extension to navigate with Chrome, no other email management program, no program of sandbox (it works natively in the sandbox), and more and more. When I tried it, I did not believe that they no longer need so many other programs ...

A pearl  with vulnerability scan (do not confuse this with the program KASPERSKY) search, find and let you update the software on your PC (SO + more)!

b,

I took a look at Bitdefender but what I want is something which can bypass an infected OS and scan the drive to remove the virus/spyware. It's been my experience that many of these virus's disable the launching of any executable including virus protection and/or cleaner software as well as Task Manager and Regedit. That's why being able to boot from an DVD or USB drive is important.

Ideally what I want is a Windows installation on a flash drive so I can run Windows software to remove the infections. My apologies to the Linux community.

Don't apologize there B, if the linux users out there are that temperamental, then to you know what to them.

I like your style, and your way of thinking, and you are totally correct. Some virus's do stop you or disable your anti-virus programs, and we all can do with some extra help out there.

Keep throwing out your ideas there B, I look forward to them, and thanks for caring.

Later B!
