Assigned Quadrant

Can anyone point me to where in the manual the "Assigned Quadrant" on the mini-map menu is explained? I did a word search in the manual but nothing came up. I also did a forum search for "Assigned Quadrant" and got no hits.

Yeah doesn't look like it's in the manual. The description on the mini-map might even be something we added in one of the patches but didn't update the manual. Assigned quadrant is the square you'll see on the map when you select a commander that has been given orders from a superior commander. In other words; a commander might be given orders to "move to this location and clear the area of the enemy". That area is the square (assigned quadrant).

OK, so when we receive orders to move our troops to "the position indicated on the map" we'll see either the green star OR the rectangle on the map, but not both. It seems I always see the star but never the rectangle. I usually play division or lower. Is the rectangle quadrant only used for a certain type of play, e.g. only sandbox or only GB scenarios or only at a certain command level?

The star generally shows up for when you have ordered your own troops to a location - i have only noticed the 'assigned quadrant' square when I have been given orders in sandbox...but i might just not have noticed.

Theres also the attack crosshairs, which may just be for attacking. Maybe assigned quadrant is for defense?

I think you're right con20or. I'm a little rusty on the details for this stuff, but I do think that the quadrant is only there for when you the player gets assigned orders from an AI commander.

Yes, the squares only show up in sandbox play. At the corps level, it is a large rectangle.
