I've been playing around with the stock OOB's to create some new scenarios. All has gone well except in one area. Although the spreadsheet column header suggests you can have regiments with up to 1,000 men,I seem to be unable to create any with more than the equivalent of c500 or so on screen.
When I look in the OOB during the game, it shows my units as say 800 strong, and the game may be taking account of that number for combat. Not sure. But the number of sprites is only c125 instead of 200.
Has anyone else experienced this? Am I missing something?

Re: Question on modifying OOBs
There's a 125 sprite limit. You can have regiments over 1,000 strong, but only 125 sprites will be displayed. If you go well over 1,000 for a regiment, one thing you can do is split it into companies or battalions. Two battalions, or four companies etc.

Re: Question on modifying OOBs
W,
The game does take into account the number/size of the unit in question. Case in point is the Napoleonic Mod. Most of the Battalion-sized units are 500-600-700 plus. In combat I see no visible shrinkage in the frontage or the number of sprites until the casualties are quite high. Hope this helps.

Re: Question on modifying OOBs
Thanks for responses guys. My problem is that I cannot get the starting number for a regiment above c125, whereas I would have thought it would be possible to see 250 sprites on screen, if I make a unit 1,000 strong. Am I doing something wrong?

Nope, you are doing nothing wrong. 125 sprites is the max number in a regiment. You can change the ratio though, so that each sprite represents more than 4 men.hanks for responses guys. Thanks MTG. Not the answer I was hoping for. Still, it's best to know.

Also remember that each sprite currently represents 4 soldiers so seeing 125 sprites at 1:4 is correct for a regiment of 500 men.
